CUET: The Team

Cambridge University Equestrian Team is made up of three teams of four riders, plus training reserves. The first and second teams compete in the Championship and Trophy BUCS leagues respectively with the third team also competing in the Trophy league. There is also an annual Varsity Match against Oxford, for which CUET have a good winning record! The team is selected by the team captain at trials based on how well individuals ride on the day, and on their relevant experience and competition record, at the start of Michaelmas term. Following this, a second and third team captain will be appointed.

Each team is in a league with three other local universities and so competes in four competitions throughout the first two terms, as one is hosted by each university. Matches are nearly always on a Wednesday. There are three team training slots each week at College of West Anglia. Team members are expected to attend a minimum of four training sessions a term and there will also hopefully be dressage and show jumping clinics with external coaches.
