The "Proton Conduction in Diverse Media" meeting was held in Cambridge, UK on 11th-12th April 2005 at Fitzwilliam College.

The purpose of this meeting was to bring together researchers working on a wide range of materials where conduction of protons is an important phenomenon, for example fuel cell membranes, biological membranes and inorganic zeolites. It is hoped that encouraging dialogue between researchers in such diverse fields will lead to a better understanding of how to construct new materials in which transport properties can be controlled ab initio.

The meeting was generously supported by contributions from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) via grant GR/S80455/01 and the UK Collaborative Computing Project number 5 (CCP5).

Some feedback received from participants:

"... just would like to thank you both again for putting together this excellent meeting we just attended.

I really enjoyed being able to talk about 'protonic' science with all the experts in the different fields."

"I wish to thank you once more for a Present that you gave to the proton conducting community. "

"Thanks again for putting on such an excellent meeting - the size allowed lots of good discussions."

"Thanks again for an excellent meeting."

"Just wanted to say "thank you" for the meeting organization.... This was actually extremely interesting ... and the people, geographical situation, etc. were more than pleasant."

"Thanks once again for the invitation to this most stimulating meeting."

"I enjoyed meeting you very much, and I think the conference was an excellent one."
