It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Alvaro Angeriz. Alvaro had been a valued member of CUKC for many years and will be greatly missed both for his enthusiasm towards karate and his commitment to life in general, which continues to inspire all who knew him. Members and friends alike will remember his earnestness and and lively attitude. For his exceptional dedication to the spirit of karate, the KUGB committee have awarded an honorary Dan grade to Alvaro.
03/12/11: Francesca and Ahmed Pass Shodan
Congratulations is due to Francesca Perselli and Ahmed Al-Shabab, who
passed their Shodan grading with Sensei Andy Sherry, 8th Dan, and Sensei Frank Brennan, 7th Dan, in Abingdon on December 3rd. Both members have shown fantastic commitment to the club and this achievement is well deserved.
04/11/11: Karate boot camp 2011
On Saturday 12th November 2011, CUKC will be offering a unique opportunity to train with 3 instructors at the highest level. The day will involve 3 sessions, each split into higher and lower grade categories allowing every participant to gain the most from the experience. All members are encouraged to attend this unparalleled event and to make the most of what CUKC has to offer. 18/10/11: Fitness Session Restarts
Starting this Thursday, 20th October, morning fitness classes will be part of the CUKC weekly schedule. They are to be held every Thursday at 7:30am to 8:30am at King's College and are designed for all members regardless of grade or previous experience. The sessions will build on general fitness so a gi will not be required.
25/02/11: Cambridge win the 2011 Varsity Match
On Saturday Cambridge University Karate Club tore apart OUKC at the Varsity Match held in Cambridge. Despite brave efforts from the Oxford team Cambridge crushed the Dark Blues in all three categories (Men's A, Men's B, Women's), winning the three trophies and the coveted Enoeda Cup. This was Cambridge's fifth Varsity victory in a row, making CUKC the most successful sports club in Cambridge. Congratulations to the Captains, Liam and Gosia, and the whole team for once again proving to all what this club is made of.

26/02/12: 2012 Varsity Match
The club will be looking to secure its sixth consecutive victory against Oxford in this year's highly competitive varsity match. Whatever the outcome, it promises to be an exciting event. Spectators encouraged.
03/03/12: KUGB Central Region Championships
Open to all competitors from KUGB clubs in the central region category.
16/03/12: Lent Term Grading
Grading will be held on the last Friday of term and will be accompanied by a training session as usual. Details still to be confirmed.
17/03/12: BUCS Championships
A high level of sport is to be expected at this year's British Universities and Colleges Sport Championships; with competitors arriving from universities all around the country, CUKC will be looking to make its presence known.
