Cambridge University Bowmen
Welcome!
The committee would like to welcome both returning and new students to Cambridge for the new term. We will shortly be starting regular practice sessions again, and will be advertising "have-a-go" sessions, which will run on the first few weekends of term.

To get updates about these have-a-go sessions, and about the first few practices, where you can take up archery, we recommend signing up to our general mailing list, "soc_cub", via lists.cam.ac.uk, or by contacting the Committee.

WELCOME to the website of Cambridge University’s archery club! We are a friendly and enthusiastic club who cater for all levels: from complete beginners (even if you’ve never picked up a bow before) to experienced archers who compete at all levels of competition. Most archers in the club shoot recurve bows, with occasionally people choosing to use barebow or longbow instead.
We welcome archers who just like to shoot for fun as well as archers interested in competing for us! Cambridge University Bowmen have a great record over the years in many levels of competitions. For example, last year winning the Bronze medal at the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Indoor Competition and beating Oxford (again!) in the annual Varsity Match.
Beginners:
Even if you’ve never picked up a bow before but would like to try it out, please come along! The majority of our club had never tried archery before coming to University, but we provide a perfect opportunity to learn the sport, have some fun, and to progress quickly to a competitive level. At the start of Michaelmas term we run Have-a-go sessions on the first 3 Sunday afternoons at Churchill College. Come see us at the Societies Fair or look at the Practices section for more info. If you unfortunately missed the Have-a-go sessions, get in touch with us or pop along to any Sunday session and speak to a Committee Member and we’ll help you out!
We run a Beginners Course at the Sunday sessions during the rest of Michaelmas term at Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre. Here, we will teach you the basics over the weeks to help you improve and getting you hitting the gold more regularly! Places are limited so speak to us at the Have-a-go sessions or email us to register your interest.
If you’ve never done archery before but would be interested in competing, we run a Novice Squad where we operate a Bow-Loan scheme for a small fee, allowing you to rent your own kit from the club, plus have a Squad coaching session each week. Please speak to us at the Have-a-go sessions and the Beginners course and we can discuss the details with you.
Experienced:
If you shoot regularly and have just started at Cambridge, or are dusting off your old kit and would like to start archery again, please get in touch with us and we can talk to you about our other practice sessions and details of competitions etc.
If you want to find out more about the club please email the committee (cub-committee@srcf.ucam.org) or you can add yourself to our mailing list, through which we advertise practise times, and will give more details about the have-a-go sessions.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
