What Could $87 billion Buy You?
$87 billion is a lot of money. But that's how much George W. Bush has requested from Congress to support
a continued US military presence in Iraq. If you have some ideas as to what you would do with $87 billion,
email them to me and I'll put them on the site. Until then, here's my
views on the subject.
- Treating and preventing HIV, tuberculosis and malaria for a year: $12bn
- Five-year plan to fight the causes of AIDS in the developing world: $15bn
- Basic education for all for the next five years: $30bn
- Health insurance for all uninsured children in the US for five years: $30bn
- Improving the world instead of sending more troops to die in Iraq: priceless.

There are some things in life money can't buy. For everything else, there's the national debt.
Now acceptable even in America. |
