How NOT to make an SBB driving trailer

After seeing two or three attempts to make an SBB epoch IV driving trailer for push pull services on the internet I was amazed at some modellers' ability to destroy some of the finest (and most expensive) models available just to make one badly painted non-accurate model...

An inequality

You will need:

  1. Minitrix Re 460  ~ Ł80
  2. Minitrix EC coach ~ Ł25
  3. Hand saw
  4. Sand paper
  5. Glue
  6. Paint

Procedure:

  1. Cut the Re 460 in half with the saw, taking care to damage is as little as possible in the process - don't worry if one end cracks because you can always use the other end!  Discard the innards.
  2. Cut the end off the EC coach, again try to cause as little damage as possible but don't worry if you destroy it utterly - it probably came from a pack of two (Minitrix 13708) or a pack of four (Minitrix 13709 - but I don't recommend using panorama coaches) so just try again with another one!
  3. Sand the beautifully painted sides of the models until all the paint and the crisply printed details have been erased. A power sander or grinder may save time here.
  4. Glue together and paint to the best of your ability, perhaps using a computer and printer to make clumsy transfers with big writing.
  5. Finally connect the finished model to the end of your Pendelzug where its inferiority to the coach it is attached to is highlighted in every possible way.  Proudly add photographs to illustrate this fact to your website if you have one!
