Still shaken over the recent death of companion Leia, and in need of relaxation, the Doctor suggests that he and his new companion, Charlotte, visit Norway to see the spectacular Aurora Borealis. To the Doctors surprise, though, they seem unusually bright, prompting him to visit UNIT for more information.

But the Brigadier already has problems of his own, with an alarming outbreak of violent killings across the country. The Doctor agrees to investigate, but it is only when he and Charlotte discover a connection between the two phenomena that the true seriousness of the situation becomes clear...

With time now against them, and the number of killings escalating out of control, the Doctor and Charlotte must fight and stop one of the Doctors most dangerous enemies, with a thousand-strong invasion force poised to attack as soon as the word is given...

Following the success of Chris Hoyle's first story as the Doctor, this second adventure was scripted and produced between Nov. 1994 and Feb. 1995. It follows on from 'The Crystal of Achillon', and sees the introduction of a new assistant, Charlotte, who is a pharmacologist.
