Two Thousand And Eight and Echo Arena Gig!!!
So the start of another year, and I thought. What's the best way to celebrate? Well just like all those awful TV shows that are too lazy to write a full episode here's a look back at the best bits from Major Major's blog 2007
See, you may aswel just christen me the new Bono now - then shoot me in the head, if you could find a bullet big enough!
The new steel studded toes that we nick from robot tramps when they are not looking
I should get some insurance put on them like Heidi Klum's legs.
50 dead flies in the bottom of it. There were about 30 more living flies too and hardened maggots (i.e maggots with hard-ons)

Mr T and Paul Daniels to guard the gates
It's been a while since the last one
Wasn't that a great look back over the year? In other news, we are playing at the New arena in Liverpool. You know the big massive one The Echo Arena. Isn't that amazing!!!
We play there on 4th January and I think the Farm are headlining. Pete Price and Phil Redmond will be MCing the night (But I don't know how well they can rap). We will be one of the First bands to play there. I know...pick your jaw up.
Happy New Year everyone

Beards are moustaches of the chin.
Slowly a new blog creeps out of the misty distance and jumps into your eyes.
Hello, it has been a while since the last blog hasn't it? So much time in fact that Liam and Conor have now grown beards, shaven them off, grew them again, played sitar with Alan Shankar (Ravi Shankar's forgotten son) in India, went on a pilgrimage to Mecca, died, got reincarnated as a swan, prodded a small child with their beaks, got reincarnated as ants, bit a small child so then got reincarnated as amoeba but then led a good life keeping to their various restraining orders and bail agreements then got reincarnated back to the almost exact same humans they once where. Only now, due to that amazing tale of chivalry, debauchery and lesbian milk men, they no longer grow beards, they have now learned the lesson of life. Only grow the beard if you are willing to become the beard!
We have much to tell about the world of Major Major. Since we last blogged your face we have been in the recording studio and recorded 2 new songs. We recorded live favourites Ashlie and Iberia. We are still deciding what to do with these at the moment but we will have them up on the intraweb for you to listen and critique soon. We recorded them at Elevator studios which was a brilliant experience. You could still smell the stale weed in the walls from the recording sessions of the Coral and the Zutons! Thanks to Shaun for all his help and expertise on the day. One or both of these songs will be available on the Streetwaves Mathew Street Festival CD that is to be given out over the bank holiday festivities.
"at the link it's easy"
Now... the Mathew Street Festival! There has been lots of kafuffle with this but things are now nearing organisational equilibrium. We have a busy August Bank Holiday, so we have all been going for runs in the park together and lifting eachother over our heads preparing our fitness for the 5 days of musical circuit training!
The busy schedule starts on Thursday 23rd August at the Zanzibar. It is £4 pound on the door and we will be on around 10.30pm.
Friday 24th August we play the Picket. This night is on from 5pm until 10pm.We are on at around 6pm or thereafter. An ideal time to come and see us and then carry on out and get pissed in town!
On Saturday 25th August we are playing Creamfields!! To answer everybody's similar questions, no we can't sneak you in in a guitar case and no you can't play bongos or something. It will be near impossible to sneak you in as they have hired Mr T and Paul Daniels to guard the gates. If you are going, make it along to the Streetwaves stage which is going to be next to the Cream tent. We are playing at 4.50pm. Be there to practice those shapes and discrete pill popping for the evening ahead!
Sunday 26th August is Barrow Live. It takes place outside the town hall and starts at 1pm. We play at 6pm but will be around all day dancing and hopefully drinking Darjeeling with you beautiful Barrowvians! Got a free house for the night? Any chance we could stay over? Message “yes you can, we want to see Major Major in their pyjamas” to our MySpace. Thank you!
Monday 27th August is the Mathew Street Festival at the Barfly. We are playing in the theatre and will be on at about 5.00pm! Throughout the day at various other places in the space tome continuum you will see us busking. Keep an eye out!
In more news we have two new brilliant songs completed which are the canines love lumps! We will be playing these at our upcoming gigs over the bank holiday. We can't wait for you to hear them! One is called At the Races and the other Lady Salsa!
In the next few weeks our website and MySpace are going to have a few dramatic changes. Firstly they will actually be updated regularly and secondly we will have our EPs Paint the Town and Silent Movie available to buy online... and soon after ... Major Major T shirts for sale. These will be available to buy at our gigs over the August Bank Holiday too! Everybody together now... Hip hip.. Operation!!
In other news we played Eclectica festival in St Helens on Saturday 11th August. Thanks to everybody who came up to us and enjoyed our set and who bought our CD's. Our apologies go out to anybody who didn't get a hold of one but we sold out. We will hopefully back that way gigging soon! We played along side Echo and the Bunnymen, Little Man Tate and the fantastic Lancashire Hotpots. Go and check them out at www.myspace.com/thelancashirehotpots.
We got interviewed by XFM Manchester. That should be available to listen to on their website shortly and on the talk of interviews we got interviewed by new online magazine Surfliverpool.com .Go and here.. Surf Liverpool Interview too.
A new series of Podcasts is on its way soon, with the first episode featuring Barrows local celebrity and cash machine bandit Azzah recorded back stage at the Canteen! This new series of Podcasts will include special guests and hopefully some really interesting topical debates?!
Louis has informed me to also mention going to this following link and voting for us! Vote for us at Mobile Act. It would be great if you could spend a few minutes of the day to sign up and vote, bare in mind there are 86400 of them, so you are just plain lazy if you don't bother!!! This is a great opportunity for us to win a record contract. 50 bands are being chosen for a battle of the bands style competition to be shown on Channel 4 and E4, the winner gets a record contract and a blowjob off TV's Dr Karl Kennedy.
Wow that was a big banquet of a blog wasn't it?! Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed scratching my crotch whilst Rita the monkey typed away! Who cares if you have an infinite amount of monkeys typing at an infinite number of typewriters and eventually they will write the complete works of Shakespeare?? None of them will be as good a read as this blog. Besides, I didn't use the word "thus" once. Damn I just used the word "thus" ... aggghhrr and again. It's ruined!!...
Rita fetch me banana bitch!!!

All quiet on the Western Front for Major Major
Sitting here typing this new blog makes me wonder how Brian Wilson must have felt after hearing Revolver by the Beatles (before he turned himself into a zombie after all those drugs and a week eating only birthday cake). He listened to the album and thought to himself that he had to match or even better it with the Beach Boys next album Pet Sounds. In many ways, writing this entry straight after Neil's magnificent piece of writing last week is very much like the Revolver/Pet Sounds situation. However, just to add to the intense creative rivalry that is present within Major Major, I thought that this week I would showcase my skills in the old blog department. Not only do these fingers majestically serve you with head shaking, foot-bouncing, wave your arms around in the air bass-lines, oh no!, but they also fashion the words that you are reading right now, isn't that an amazing fact. I should get some insurance put on them like Heidi Klum's legs.
Anyway... It has been very quiet recently at Major Major HQ, so quiet that tumbleweeds have been rumoured to be seen sitting in the rehearsal room playing on the instruments, whether this is true I couldn't possibly say, yet those urban myths do spread like wildfire. Despite the recent lack of gigs, we have been attempting to learn and relearn a mixed variety of covers which we will play at various gigs such as the resurrection of the Jam's A Town Called Malice and Talking Heads' Psycho Killer which haven't been played for a while by the band, and Fire by Jimi Hendrix. We also have a few others in the pipeline, but I will not reveal them because if we get them right, they will be spectacular spectacular.
I also made a milestone during the past month by contributing my first song to the band. It was difficult to pluck up the courage to play the band my first song when I knew that they had written so many good ones before I joined. However they liked it, and we worked on it, changing a few bits around, and finishing the song with an ending that not one of us had expected to be put on. Hopefully we can finish it with it sounding great.
As mentioned last week, our Streetwaves heat is this Saturday which will hopefully lead us to play in the Mathew Street Festival. Furthermore since last week another gig has been added to the list which is on Tuesday 3rd July in Korova where we are playing with the Eleven Ps which should be an excellent night, so all come along! Also we are now confirmed to be playing the St John's College Ball in Durham University. It's in November so still ages away yet, but from this early stage we expect it to be an excellent night!
Keep a look out for more details about all of our gigs. These will be available on our various internet pages.

So there you go, that's all we have time for this week, when we have a bit more to do band-wise there will be more to talk about!
Hopefully this blog has been a success, and I soon hope to here the immortal words of Alan Sugar saying "You're Hired".

Yo Fernando, lost your energy? Where's your Weetabix?!
I bet I end up writing this blog and Conor gets in there before me. As mentioned, to quite a lengthy degree in the last blog, he is going to try and keep up with writing one a week. I have taken it upon myself to steal his moment and not even tell him I am writing one! Is this the beginning of competitive rivalry in Major Major? No… that has always been there. How else do we stay on our toes all the time? It's not the fancy shoes that we are always buying to out do each other, or even the new steel studded toes that we nick from robot tramps when they are not looking. It is the constantly trying to be better than the others that means that we carry on being consistently brilliant and write better and better songs! Take Lennon and McCartney for example. John wrote Help so Paul bettered him and wrote Yesterday. John wrote I Am the Walrus so Paul wrote Helter Skelter. Even when the Beatles parted ways.. John wrote Imagine. What did Paul do?.. he wrote the Frog Chorus! You may laugh but the frog community fucking loved that song! It was a big hit across the pond too!
Anyway, you may have noticed it has been a bit quiet in terms of Major Major. But I assure that that is only because you haven't been able to hear the things going on behind our highly polished sound proof door! Although gigs are going to be quiet due to Liam going to Germany this month to eat many a sausage and Conor going to Llandudno to have "happy time" as he calls it, with many a sheep, we are in fact doing quite a lot! As well as a lot of new material getting written then erased then re written and then tipexed (because some fool wrote in ink!!) there is also going to be some remixes of our songs about for you to listen to in the next month. With some assistance from the Emmerson, I am going to make the guitar higher in all of the songs and lower everyone else down to an appropriate minimal level. Haha, just kidding. It is going to be fun to do and hopefully just a bit exciting to you Major Major lovers out there!
Since the last time we were in touch we played a gig in the Camden Barfly! This gig was boss! The place really filled up and our CD's were played at the club night afterwards! Thank you for all the Liverpool people who came down with us for the weekend and also to Liesl and Iván and all the other cockney swines who came down to see us and enjoyed the set and bought our CD's! Although a fun experience, it was also a strange experience in many ways.. like for instance, how do they make all the Barfly's smell the same?! This gig has opened up many new opportunities for Major Major including more gigs in London in the future and interest from management in the capital after witnessing our, as always, exciting and energetic live show! We turned the Camden Barfly into a Hip Hop club for Espadrilles with everyone singing the "not last night but the night before" bit back to us and then flipped things on its head when we turned the place into a Minor Injuries Centre with me and Conor both falling over.
After exploring the non existent Friday night life that I was expecting in Camden I ended up getting a bus back to Hendon, where we were staying, on my own! Only the bus driver told me to get off in the total wrong place and ended up walking home for the next hour and a half, encountering some European guy twice asking me to "phone taxshi pleesh!?". A bloody fight ensued, and the battle was won by me when he declared scissors and I stone. Thus blunting his scissors, he was sent on his way!
The rest of the weekend was full of drunken antics which came to prominence in a club we found in Soho called Cheers! Disappointingly, everybody didn't know our name but we danced to the odd mixture of music they played anyway until 3.30am. From 50cent to Nirvana to "Girls just wanna have fun!!" it was a peculiar place. To save the already boring babble about me, I will conclude the rest of the weekend in single phrases:
Poker
Vodka
Vomiting goth woman
Star Wars Exhibition
"Hello Joe!!"
Wagamamas
Flared Trousers
Piano Belt
Spillage
Napoleon Dynamite
Baby holding an apple
The next gig for Major Major is later this month where we will play the Streetwaves heat. Streetwaves is a competition where the winners get to play the Mathew Street Festival. This is on 23rd June. After that our next gigs are in July. We have a headline slot in the new Revolution by FACT on the 25th July. We return once again to Barrow to play the Canteen on 27th July and not to forget 21st July …we play Knoll Park Nursery Summer Fayre!! This is in Woolton and it is at the place where we rehearse. It is run by Nuns so no swearing but there will be a raffle, tombola, cups of orange squash and Hot Dogs! Only 50p to get in and being a sunny Saturday afternoon, why miss it? Get it in your diaries now! August sees us playing the Zanzibar for the first time in ages so also do not miss that one! More details about all of our gigs will be available on our website www.majormajor.co.uk and MySpace www.myspace.com/majormajorband as soon as we know! So keep your eyes peeled!(what a horrible phrase that is !!)
That's just about it for this blog, Tune in next week when we will be discussing next week's news… Bruce Forsythe dying, Paris Hilton drops soap, Bruce Willis Knighted in error and Physicists prove existence of a Hindu God but not a Christian God.
Nice to see you to see aaaarrrrggghhh my heart!

Hotel Rooms, Camden and Idol Minds
Hello folks. Here is another blog from "Yours Truly". I wonder where that expression came from? Probably from the way you sign a letter if you are writing to a liar. Like Tony Blair. I bet he's never signed a letter like that (Yeah, I'm getting political all over your arse. Put that in a song!) I tried to write a political song once. It failed miserably and I discovered how little I knew about current affairs. I'm getting better though - What about that G8 eh? and Gordon Brown (see, you may aswell just christen me the new Bono now - then shoot me in the head, if you could find a bullet big enough!)
Anyway onto the main content of the blog. I always do like to put a little intro but it often flies off into madness and stuff that only I find funny. We did a great gig at Thornton Hall Hotel last Saturday. It was a black tie charity dinner for Clare House. A worthy cause indeed. When we arrived the place looked so formal. And the dinner guests were all distinguished lawyers and doctors and green grocers. I wondered why a band like us would have been booked for this sort of thing. But nevertheless we performed for about an hour and went down surprisingly well given the crowd. We played a couple of covers and I told a few more jokes and talked a bit more than normal, and everyone was thoroughly entertained, I even chucked in a couple of magic tricks (bet you didn't know I had that string on my bow). There were two ballroom dancers who went on before us. They were very good. That sort of thing amazes me. The were graceful and sexy at the same time. So a big shout out to Justine and John !
We were treated like proper rock stars at Thornton Hall too. We were put up in a hotel room and given a massive platter of sandwiches and as much booze as we could drink. We ended up getting wrecked with Justine (the aforementioned dancer) and the main organiser of the night - a lovely girl called Jen. The night raised loads for Clare House too which I suppose is slightly more important than me getting an inflated sense of self-worth. Thank you to everyone who came, bought CDs and donated money. I'm sure you'll all go to heaven.
We are gigging in London tomorrow. At the Camden Barfly. It should be a wonderful thing. If you live in the area then you should come. It is our first gig in the capital and it's set to be a blinder. We are playing at 9pm, and it's £5 to get in (London Prices eh?) If you come down make sure you introduce yourself (unless we know you already) it's always nice to make new friends/potential foster parents. If you can't be there don't worry because I'll be sure to let you know how the gig went in next week's blog. We've got some good stuff planned though.
I went to see the final of the radio City Battle of the Bands on Tuesday night. The winning band gets a slot at the Knowsley Music Festival, on the same bill as the Who and The Coral. Not bad. I bet you are wondering why we weren't in the final. I am too, we entered. I went to the final of it anyway and the "Idol Minds" were the best thing on by far. All the bands had a similar style though. I think that they were looking for that "Liverpool" sound. Jingle jangle guitar and scouse voices. A bit like the Coral. My guess is that we didn't fit into that category. I don't know who won in the end because it was announced on Radio City the next day but I really hope it was the Idol Minds. They have a great sound and are very "sing along". We like those guys a lot. Hopefully we'll gig with them in the not too distant future.
So that's about all from me today. Come to our Camden gig and keep leaving us nice comments on the myspace page.
Drink up m'hearties yo ho!

Battle of the Bands Update and Other Short Stories
Hello
My oh My we haven't updated this website for ages. I really want to get into the habit of doing one blog a week, just so passers by and various internet ramblers don't think Major Major are just sat on their "perfectly formed" buttocks doing nothing. That could not be further from the truth (apart from the perfectly formed part of course) We have been very busy. We did our first gig in Grange Over Sands last week. It was a really cool venue. It used to be a Leisure centre and the bit we played in was the swimming pool. They had drained most of the water out but so it wasn't as wet as Glastonbury is going to be this year (Conor's Prediction Alert). Thanks to the organisers (Nothin' Less) and Jacob the sound man. We did have fun and we made a few new friends up their too. We'll be back to Barrow soon for the next instalment Major Major's Cumbrian experience
Here is some news on the Bumper Battle of the bands that we were in. We made it all the way to the final and came second. Thank you to everyone who voted and helped us along the way. It was very close. But the band that won were an all autistic band called the Beathovens (Clever name, Hoffman would be proud). To be honest I was fucking gutted we didn't win. I know that it is my job the believe we are the best band but we seriously should have won. I think the fact it was completely judged by texts was unfair. It was a popularity contest and the bands may not have even played for all it was worth. The texts made the sympathy vote a very real possibility and The Beathovens come from the Wirral Autistic Society which is a government funded multi million pound charity so obviously had a lot of mobile phones with credit on them. Plus the £2000 prize money would be a drop in the ocean to a massive charity like them. But hey ho. Shit happens and I'll be pissed off for a while. The above paragraph is not meant to be having a go at the autistic people in the band or anyone. I'm just venting frustration at the texts votes that in my opinion didn't reflect the quality of the bands performing. But as I have mention before Thank you very much if you voted and I'm sorry we fell foul of commercialism
On a much lighter note, our Camden gig is approaching fast and we are really looking forward to it. We won this gig as a prize in the Barfly battle of the bands (which was judged fairly - ooooh sly little dig there). It is on 1st June at the Camden Barfly and it would be wonderful if you could make it down there. We are planning on raising the roof with our music and performance in the hope that the entire London Music industry will be in attendance (as well as Kate Moss and Tom Baker - they are always hanging out together)
Since the last Bloggingtons we have played at the Oxford University May Ball. It was a great night and I think we went down very well. Thanks to Chloe for organising it all. I like playing at these big university parties. We may have another one lined up for November in Durham, which will be lovely.
As always if you want to get in touch about the band, gigs, podcasts, LOST then just email us or myspace us. We like it when people do that. Next Podcast should be out soon, we are having a trouble with our PA and Laptop at the moment so bear with us. In the mean time why don't you see how long you can hold your breathe...then see how long you can hold some else's breathe (much easier in my opinion)
Lots of Love Conor Patrick John Henry Clarke xxx

Brand New EP!
So Here I am, sitting here with one of ony 4 copies of Major Major's brand new "secretly titled EP" We finished it about 9pm today and It's still fresh. It sounds so much more ambitious than "Paint The Town" That's not to say it's better. It's vocally led and Neils guitar plays a bigger part. We've got backwards cymbals and everything! The songs on it are Oh! Mr. Porter, Always the Bridesmaid, Orange Lights and one we haven't got a name for yet. My favourite is orange lights at the moment but they are all great.
Still buzzing from the studio so I'm sorry if this a bit of a ramble. This new EP won't get released for a while. We are planning to do some pretty cool stuff with it and it will take some time. The artwork is planned and we will be taking the photos for it this week. Every now and then we will put a new song on the myspace though so keep your eyes peeled like a hippo with leprosey.
Anyway, I'm about to put the CD on my Ipod so I'm off now. It sounds great and will be with the world/web/cats soon.

PS wasn't LOST shit tonight, and I had to go to someone elses house to watch it, bloody NTL Virgin! x

Major Major Podcast 5 and Recording Updates
Hello everyone who is alive, and to some dead people who haven't moved on yet. I wouldn't know how a ghostly spirit would manage to use a computer but stranger things have happened. For example I saw a woman bus driver the other day! Who'd have thought, but good for her I say.
Us here at Major Major have now completed Episode 5 of our podcasts and I think we are really getting into the swing of it. The recording quality is the best it's ever been (not saying much) and we have a proper Theme tune which we composed with a PC and some samples..It even fades out!!! We are getting very professional indeed. As well as the usual inane babble this podcast features a sneaky peak of what will be on our forthcoming EP. There is a sample of the middle section of new song "Oh! Mr. Porter" We were practicing Vocals and trying to sound angelic. It's not perfect but you can get the idea of what we are trying to do. As usual the podcast is available on the audio page and on itunes. It's FREE FREE FREE!!! If you want to get in touch with us about the podcasts - perhaps to tell us how shit they are - then just email major_major@hotmail.co.uk
We are back in the studio next weekend (3rd and 4th of March) recording our new EP. We aren't going to announce it's name yet or a proper release date but it will feature Oh! Mr. Porter, Always the Bridesmaid, Orange Lights and one at the moment unnamed track. Keep your eye on our myspace page because occasionally these songs will pop up for a day or two. We will keep you full up to date with EP details as and when they happen, the photo shoot for the front cover will take place some time in the next two weeks too...It's all very exciting
In other news, we gigged in St Helens at the weekend with Jewel Thief and Eleven Ps. Thanks to everyone who came and thanks to Kevin and Mike Stand for comparing the night. We had a ball and were lucky enough to provide the backing music for a full band version of Kevin's critically acclaimed song "Back in the Saddle". More info on our talented compares can be found at www.myspace.com/kevinandmikestand Check them out!
That's all for now, don't touch a light switch with wet hands
Conor xx
PS A Big Thank you to Voodoo 7:2 who we enjoyed a fantastic gig with at the Cavern last week. We had so much fun and the Voodoo boys are extreeeeemley talented and lovely. Hopefully a repeat performance will be on the cards in the not too distant future x

Podcast, Prizes and People with Arms
Hello, I thought I'd do a blog today. Here it is.
We have just recorded the 4th episode of the Major Major podcast. This one deals with "pet hates" and features Bill Gates. It was nice he could do it on such short notice. It can be downloaded from the audio page or straight from Itunes. As can all the previous episodes. And they are all FREE. If you want to email us about the podcasts then use major_major@hotmail.co.uk We might read out your message on the next one
Remember that Battle of the Bands we were in at the Barfly, well we won it. Thank you to everyone who came to see us and support us. The accolade has really opened up a new world of gigs to us. We are playing in Leeds, Oxford and London in the next few months. All the details of our gigs are on the website or myspace. If you live in the areas we are playing then you should come. It'll be jolly. Another prize from the battle of the bands was a guitar. We ended up picking a Fender Strat which Neil is very happy with. It sounds a lot better than his awful, ugly Gibson on some of the new songs which have a cabaret feel to them.
While we are on the subject of new songs. We will be premiering a new song at our next gig (Cavern 20th February). That night is going to be Mega. Voodoo 7:2 are headlining and it is the first time we will have been on the bill together since time began. We love Voodoo 7:2 very much so get down to this gig. It's going to be an event!
We are headlining our own night in Newton-Le-Willows (near St Helens) on Saturday 24th February. Eleven Ps and Jewel Thief are also playing and the night will be compared by comedy duo Kev and Mike Stand. You don't want to miss that. Newton le willows is only a short train ride from Liverpool so getting there is easy.
There is absolutely loads going on at the moment. Too much to talk about now. But keep checking the website / myspace / and your own testicles for new developments.
Be careful in your House

PS We are recording our new EP in early March. More on that soon...Exciting! x

Barfly Rock Star Wars...We're in the final
Last night we did a gig at the Barfly. It was not a normal gig however, it was a Battle of the Bands...with a Star Wars theme. Although nobody dressed up as characters from Star Wars, which was a shame.
It was a boss gig and thank you to everyone who came down and voted for us. And the best news was that after the votes had been counted it turned out that we won. Huzzah! We are through to the final on Friday 26th January. So we are using this gig as the first night of our mini Northwest tour.
If you are free on Friday then please do come down to the gig. There are 9 bands playing over three stages and it only costs £3 to get in. If you get down there you will really be in for a night full of new, exciting music. Doors open at 7:30pm. More details are available on the gigs page or at www.barflyclub.co.uk
Thanks again to all the people who came and voted and to everyone who wished us good luck with thoughts in their minds.

I am the New Bassist! Hear me Roar!..in Blog Form
Hello everyone, this is the new Major Major Blog, and I'm also very happy to say it is also my first one. My name is Louis and I now play bass in the band. After the departure of James the old Bassist the band entered a raffle at a St Clare's RC Primary school Christmas fair. They won the raffle with the number 815 (blue) and I was first prize. I've been playing bass for Major Major ever since.
What can I say other than it has been a busy few weeks for Major Major. The first gig with my involvement (Head Of Steam 23rd December) went very well, and was well supported, so thanks to everyone who came (I know that was mentioned in the previous blog, but I thought I'd give my thanks to everyone anyway). Since then we've played the Barfly, and our first ever St Helens gig at the Zoo Bar which was really enjoyable. There's a new St Helens gig coming up soon too.
We now have a new PODCAST available which to this date is our longest edition, and for your entertainment it contains Colin Farrell/ George Best in the same pair of trousers, The most embarrassing Major Major Member Moments, and an exciting, unscripted tale of adventure, travel, deceit and office printer malfunction. You can download it from the audio section of this website. Go there after you have read this!
Also (and some would say more importantly) we've been working on several new songs...which are sounding amazing. We will premiere them at the up and coming gigs at the end of this month and on our Transit Tour. Go to the gigs page for more details after you have read this and downloaded the podcast (Oh you've got lots to do).
The next few weeks for Major Major look to be extremely productive, so we hope to see you at a gig soon.
Keep checking the page for updates on gig information!

Happy New Year listeners!! Hope you are all happy and full of gravy.
Well another year and another load of Major Major information is being passed into your eyes via the internet once again.
Firstly, we would like to say a big thank you to Ivan Gonzalez who wrote a mouth watering review of our newest CD Paint the Town. This very kind review is here for you to read at the end of this blog and also in various other places on our website, forum and Myspace. Thanks Ivan!
Major Major are doing a tour later this month stopping off at The Canteen in Barrow in Furness on the 27th Jan, then Bar Fresa in Liverpool on the 30th Jan, then skipping Los Angeles and New York to end the three day transit tour in the Retro Bar in Manchester on the 31st Jan. Details of these gigs are on our Myspace and website in the Gigs section.
Our new bassist Louis Cooper has well and truly settled into the Major Major family with recent rehearsals being immensely productive. As always we are working on about five or six new songs at the moment and reckon that at least two or three will be ready for our new line up comeback late in January! The songs at the moment only have temporary silly names but we promise are yet again the best songs we have written to date!! Grooving bass and tasty beats with psychotic guitar and excitable vocals smashing through the centre. You know you love it! Make it down to these dates to witness the new songs, the new hats, the new boots and the new socks of Major Major!
Bobbing along on the bottom of the beautiful briny sea!

Hello.
All is well in Major Major land at the moment. Liam is on holiday, James is probably masturbating and Neil and I went to see Lyons and Tigers (www.myspace.com/lyonsandtigers) last night at Korova. It was a lot of fun and I even got a name check in their critically acclaimed song "Distinguished Gentleman"
We won't be gigging for the rest of September because we are busy writing and perfecting the songs we are planning to record for our next EP. They are pretty much sorted but we are very fussy. We will be busking every now and then though so keep your eyes peeled. If you see us then come and say "Hi" unless you hate us in which case simply ignore us and walk on by in the manor of a crab.
Also we are sorry to inform you that the Barfly date we were due to play on 13th October with This is Seb Clarke has now been cancelled due to an Alien and a Horse making love. Don't worry though because we have now added three more gigs onto the gig page, go and check them out when you have finished reading this with your pretty peepers.
More gigs will follow soon and some of them should be very juicy indeed.
Keep Breathing

Major Major Podcast Number 2

...............We have now completed our second Official Major Major podcast. You can find it in the Audio section of this very website. It is a very special "Lunch with Major Major" edition. We recorded it on Sunday 3rd September 2006 after we'd all got soaked in the terrible rain...which was shit! Here are some pictures from the recording session when James dropped pasta sauce on his T Shirt (Oh The embarrassment!). Also for this entire Podcast Liam (drummer) was in a box
Don't forget you can also download Episode one and the Pilot Episode from the audio section of the website too. And they are all FREE!
Enjoy responsibly

Hello. It's Conor here. I love this new website and how we can all post our own little news type blog things. I hope you are enjoying reading them as much as I enjoy riding penguins through Milan.
Anyway, thank you to everyone who came to our gig at the Head of Steam Pub last Monday. It was such a good night. The whole band thoroughly enjoyed you all singing and dancing along (even James who had had no sleep that weekend because he went to the Leeds festival).
If you were there for the second set on Monday you will have seen my duet with Ivan form Voodoo 7:2. We played one of his bands songs called Disco Desperado and it was loads of fun. I hope we did them proud with it. Their website is www.voodoo72.com if you want to check them out more.
We've got plenty of gigs coming up next week. So come to them all! (details on the gigs page). If you can't come to all of them then I think the best one to catch us on would be Hannah's Bar on Friday 8th September. We should be on about 10pm and after we've rocked out we are all going into town to carry on the party. You are more than welcome to join us.
If you haven't yet checked out the Major Major Lego history then go to the video page now. It's really great. More details about it can be found in Liam's blog (below)
Thanks for reading this...now do you're eye exercises (up, down, left, right, all the way round and repeat)

The Mathew Street Festival
Hello Major Major fans of all kinds! Whether you be Major Majorian, Glitter Girl or Major-ette, I am writing to inform you that Major Major are celebrating this years Mathew Street Festival large!!
If you don't know anything about the Mathew Street festival then go to www.mathewstreetfestival.com . In short it is a festival based around the Mathew Street area. There are many stages on various streets with music everywhere you walk from cover bands with shit names to new local bands with often equally shit names playing at the Pier Head South Stage.
As well as the stages though are the many pubs and clubs that we all know and love and this year Major Major have decided to play not one….not one and a half….but 2 , that's right 2 sets in the Head Of Steam pub which is attached to Lime St Station. We are playing at 7.00pm and 9.30pm on the Monday (28th August) and it's going to be fantastic! We have many new songs, Conor has new boots and I have a new range of perfume out so come along and dance and drink the cheap booze that this place has to offer!!
Now I said Major Major where having it large, well...on Saturday (26th) and Sunday (27th), me and Conor will be going busking around town playing many busking classics and also stripped down intimate versions of all your favourite Major Major songs! If you are out and about and you don't fancy seeing another Beatles cover band from Cuba then wander the streets, we should be wandering between Mathew Street, Williamson Square, Church Street(by Schuh and Zara) and also very possibly down by the Pier Head South Stage!
We would love you all to be apart of this ace weekend of music with us, so we hope to see you all down at our gig and out and about on the streets watching us. We love the attention!

August has been a pretty quiet month as far as gigs go but we've been doing other things I assure you. We've had a revamp of old songs and we are also in the process of deciding what songs we will be recording next. We are looking at doing 4 track and close contenders are The Fixer, ASBOs, Hangman, Newspapers and Magazines, Espadrilles, Accidents and Incidents and Fences. We'd love your input on this so email us or post on the forum about what songs you would like us to record.
We've got some gigs coming up that you should all know about. On the 28th August we are playing at the Head of Steam Pub (which is attached to Lime street Station) not once but twice in the same day. We are on at 7pm then again at 9:30pm. It should be a very good night and it would be even better if you came...yes I'm talking to you. The other gig I've just confirmed will be on 7th September at the Metropolitan bar. Details on the gigs page.
More news soon.

Major Major have a new website. If you didn't know already this is it!!! It took 9 years in the making (which is odd as the band have only been together for about 2 years) and many believe that this website is the sole reason for the internet!
There's loads of new stuff for you to look at, like photos, gig news and soon we should even have some videos on here. Well swank or what?
This is the News Page and will be updated whenever something happens that we think you should know about (e.g. New gigs/ songs/ James shitting himself again.) You know you love it!

Thanks to everyone who came to our gig at Korova last night. We had a boss night and think it was one of the best gigs we've done. Thanks to those who posted a lovely comment about us on http://www.myspace.com/majormajorband. The Eleven Ps were great too and we'll be definitely playing with those chaps again. If you took any photos of us at this gig then post them on the myspace or the forum. The best one gets and onion
