We are the band Major Major. We hail from Liverpool and play an eclectic and alternative style of indie rock which is a pastiche of rock, disco, punk, cabaret, folk and jazz. Our exciting and energetic sound comes from an amalgamation of melodic, harmonious and lively vocals, dirty psychotic guitar and a grooving dance rhythm section all preparing the canvas for intelligent lyrics that tell a tale or two skilfully layered on top.
Major Major have gathered quite an army of fans over the past year by bagging gigs with the likes of The Holloways, Fear of Music, 80's Matchbox B Line Disaster, Your Vegas, The Crimea, Red Organ Serpent Sound and The Automatic.
January 2007 saw us embark on a Northwest Transit Tour around Barrow in Furness, Manchester and Liverpool. We made fans and allies who we won't forget. The tour was a lot of fun and we will certainly be back to those cities again. Also in January we won the prestigious Liverpool Barfly Battle of the Bands 07, which has opened up a lot of publicity opportunities with the Barfly chain and also the Liverpool Echo and other local press.
In addition we now have dates confirmed in London, Manchester, St Helens, Stoke, Leeds, Glasgow, Chester, Wigan and Oxford where we are playing the University May Ball in the coming year. We are also putting on our own club nights which includes venues in Liverpool, Cumbria and Newton le Willows.
Air play on our local BBC Radio Merseyside and Juice FM and also on London University Radio station Insanity FM has seen a generous increase in people listening to and enjoying our music far and wide across the UK...even in Hull.
Our last EP release, Paint the Town, has had much critical acclaim from local magazine Generation Live, London based reviewer Iván Gonzalez and Glasswerk.co.uk. All these reviews are available to read on our website and MySpace in the news/blog sections. If you want a copy of "Paint the Town" then just get in touch with us.
As well as admiration for our music, we are actively involved in creating animations, art and more recently Major Major Podcasts (available on Itunes or our website and now also availiable on our MySpace. See Below) for our vastly growing fan base. We received a Liverpool Biennial Award for our short film animation of the band entitled "A Lego History of Major Major" This film can be seen on our website and now in the video section of our MySpace too.
If you would like to book us for a gig, review our EP or one of our gigs or get in touch with us for any reason please do not hesitate to contact us via our email major_major@hotmail.co.uk or through our MySpace page www.myspace.com/majormajorband. We are very approachable and would love to hear from you.
The hunky spunk filled members of Major Major are:
Conor Clarke- Vocals/ Guitar
Conor is one of only a handfull of people in the world who can set off the security alarms at ASDA with only the power of his mind. This skill is not often used when he is performing brilliant songs with Major Major. Conor is also a magician
Neil Owen- Lead Guitar/ Vocals
Neil is the best lead guitarist in the world. He was given his first guitar by Kenneth Williams while still in the womb and has never put it down. Neil also knows the meaning of life and can turn people's eyelids inside out (but they don't normally like it when he does that)
Liam Dobie- Drums
Liam is the multi-limbed drummer of Major Major. His father was Dave Benson Phillips and his mother was Queen Victoria. He also wrote, directed and starred in the film "Cool Runnings"
Louis Cooper- Bass Guitar/ Vocals
Louis is the only man to have ever met Ronnie O'Sullivan and lived to tell the tale. He is also an avid music fan and has been to more gigs than he has had cold dinners. He is the newest member of Major Major and the one with the biggest...guitar
