Race Details

Robinson Head is the premier warm-up for the Lent bumps. The race is open to all college eights. There will be 3 divisions at 14.00, 15.00 and 16.15 on Friday 5th February 2010. The draw will be published during the week preceding the race and will be posted on this site. The results will be posted by 7pm the day of the race with winners being informed by 6pm with prizes being presented at 6.30 at Robinson College.

The course is a rolling bow start at the little bridge and a bow finish at Peters Post, covering a distance of 2200m.

Race Day Organisation

Starting

Divisons will marshal at the Penny Ferry 45 minutes prior to the division start. They will marshal in the order they arrive. No boat may leave the bank until all boats from the previous division have passed the finish. Marshals will instruct crews when to push off so that the crews arrive in order at Baits Bite Lock. The top half of the division will row down in reverse starting order and spin and pull in to the bank on the tow path side below the start. The lower half of the division will row down in starting order and spin at the lock when clear and follow the crew ahead until the start. Crews will be instructed to proceed to the start at 30 second intervals.

Finishing

Crews passing the finish at Peters Post will be instructed not to pull in except in the case of an emergency. They will be requested to continue back to their boathouses at light pressure.

Bank Parties

No crew will be allowed a bank party of more than 3 cyclists. No use of klaxon horns or whistles by bank parties will be allowed, coaches will not be allowed to use loudhailers for coaching purposes (see the Robinson Head Rules for further details)

Emergency

A first aid station will be present at the finish, with all marshals able to contact the station by mobile phone.
An emergency stop signal will be a long blast on a whistle/klaxon horn/loudhailer and will be demonstrated to the crews before the start of the race
Throw lines will be spread along the course, held by marshals at key locations in case they are required.

Any crew which fails to meet these requirements will not be allowed to race if they do not meet these requirements or attempt to race in a boat otherwise considered unsafe by the marshals
