Ha! And you think you have your finger on the pulse! Everyone knows now it’s caused by precipitation and tv. How come you didn’t give ‘em that reference, eh? You told ME that critical reference. (Just trying to keep ahead of the pack, I guess.)
The autism connection is cool, but Ramachandrans claims about “mirror neuron as the DNA for psychology” seem pretty far-fetched. For one thing, they can’t really explain how humans decide /what/ to imitate.

I worry that mirror neurons are a bit hyped, but there is sound science at the core of the field.
Of course hype can be useful when one hunts funding.
