Outreach

CU Spaceflight are keen to encourage young people to learn more about space and the possibilities for space exploration. We have given talks in schools, and carried out a demonstration launch for Cambridge Science Week, which was attended by over a hundred children from schools in East Anglia. In December 2007, we also helped out at both the Engineering Dept and Institute of Physics outreach events, where we helped children to build their own small rocket and launch it.

If you would like us to come and give a talk to your school or community group, please get in contact with us. We would be delighted to give a talk or presentation, and can use pieces of our equipment as a focus for these, as well as tailoring the talk to an appropriate level of scientific knowledge for the audience.

We have organised a competition for students aged 11-16 to design an experiment to be flown to the edge of space on one of our balloons in October 2008 - we will be working with pupils from Parkside Federation (Parkside and Coleridge Community Colleges).

Our outreach program is kindly supported by Rolls-Royce plc.
