Blues vs Exeter

Exeter 3 - Cambridge Blues 10

On a wet and miserable Wednesday after the end of term, 13 Cambridge lacrosse girls got up horribly early to travel all the way to Exeter for their second meeting of the term. At the home match earlier in the term Cambridge had come away with a convincing 10-2 win, and were hoping to do the same this time, despite having only one sub and a considerable number of key blues players missing.

Although several players only just made it in time for the start of the match, Cambridge got off to a flying start with 4 goals in the first 10 minutes. The attack was confident and dynamic and hard work to win turnovers in midfield meant that initially the defense were under very little pressure.

As the first half progressed it was clear that the Cambridge side were tiring and Exeter fought hard, finally scoring before half time. However, Cambridge came back strongly and, despite a rather more scrappy second half from both teams, dominated until the end, coming away with a 10-3 win. Goals came from Liz Morris, Adele Fauvet, Jackie Vullinghs, Emily Knight and Ellie Walsh.
