UEA 2 – 22 Cambridge
We resumed the lacrosse season early with our rematch versus UEA, which had been postponed from late November. We were keen to show that we hadn't indulged too much over Christmas, and that we were already honing ourselves in preparation for the dark blues later this term. We arrived at the pitch early and almost had too long in which to warm up our stick skills and psych up our minds.
This was shown by conceding a sloppy goal straight from the draw. This kick-started the Cambridge team into action. The Defence tightened, the passes were slick. Spaces opened up everywhere in midfield and attack, and the goals started to rain in. We finished the first half 12-1 up, with Lina barely having any shots to worry about in goal.
Not really wanting to have to stop for half time, the team drew itself together, and formulated its plan of action for the remainder of the match. Unfortunately, the pause had given UEA time to regroup and the light blues time to relax. A second sloppy goal was conceded, but it was to be the last, as again Cambridge dominated the rest of the slightly shortened quarters to finish the match 22-2.
Si excelled, and despite being supposedly playing in defence slotted an impressive 7 goals to earn man of the match. Cambridge showed great versatility and depth to the squad by managing 9 separate scorers. Well done guys.
Sarah won woman of the match by her impressive display in a new position and was incredibly unlucky not to get her reward of a maiden goal. Credit should also go to the defence who have been becoming a better and better unit with every match.
