Photo of me

I am currently an assistant on the project Computational Natural Language Processing and the Neuro-Cognition of Language, working at the Centre For Speech, Language and the Brain at the University of Cambridge. I have worked at the university as a research assistant on various projects since graduating from Trinity College in 2005 with a BA in Linguistics, French and Spanish. I am also employed as an English Language tutor at the Cambridge branch of OISE, where I specialise in one-to-one exam preparation tutorials, and I supervise paper Fr1 for the University of Cambridge.

I have been webmaster for a number of organisations in Cambridge. I designed and maintain the British Association of Academic Phoneticians (BAAP) website, I maintain the Cambridge Lindy Hoppers website, and I have been involved with the development of the Cambridge University Environmental Society's Student Carbon Calculator.

Most of my free time is spent dancing with the Cambridge Lindy Hoppers, for whom I am Treasurer. The troupe has just finished performing in Beauty at the ADC, where Claude Schneider and Duncan Grisby took lots of fab pictures of us. They also took some rather good ones when we performed in Perspectives in January 2008. The troupe is involved in lots of exciting events this summer: the Buskers' Festival, Strawberry Fair, The Big Weekend, and the University of Cambridge 800th Anniversary Garden Party. All of these are free and most are unticketed - do come along and see us!

The remainder of my free time goes to campaigning against climate change with Cambridge Carbon Footprint, helping to maintain wildlife friendly sites around Cambridge with Trumpington Orchard and the Local Nature Reserves Team, trying to grow vegetables, and volunteering with Romsey Mill. Oh, and knitting, whenever I'm sitting still.
