Personal Bio
I started practicing yoga in 2004 and have been on the CUYS committee since spring 2010. For me, yoga is about relaxing, focusing, and getting exercise. It’s the best foil to sitting at a desk all day, which I do a lot of as a second year American History PhD student. Yoga is also a welcome contrast to all the cycling I do around Cambridge.
Job Description
The President has overall responsibility for coordinating the actions of the committee and communicating with various teachers and colleges etc. As the person who oversees the activities of everyone else, the President has to keep an eye on the bigger picture. He or she must ensure CUYS provides a varied, interesting, and financially sustainable class timetable each term, and other activities aimed at broadening the knowledge and experience of interested members of the Cambridge community.

Personal Bio
Hi I'm Gemma and I'm a 5th year vet from Girton. I started yoga in September 2010 with CUYS and have been attending at least one, if not several, classes every week since then. For a busy person who's not very good at just stopping, I find it a really good way to relax. The benefit of also toning your muscles is of course a plus too!
Job Description
The Vice President shares and helps carry out the responsibilities of the President. He or she helps coordinate classes and ensure they run smoothly, and helps the committee provide a varied, interesting, and financially sustainable class timetable each term, and other activities aimed at broadening the knowledge and experience of interested members of the Cambridge community.

I am currently completing the first year of my PhD in Social Anthropology at Trinity. My first ever yoga class was Martin Bond's Hatha yoga class in Sidney Sussex in 2006, and since then I've been practicing yoga wherever I go. Very happy to be back in Cambridge and part of CUYS again!

I am a third year PhD student in the Archaeology Department. I've been practicing yoga irregularly for a long time but have really focused my practice over the last few years. I'm relying on it to keep me sane through thesis writing! I love the way yoga can feel so intense and calm at the same time- I think it's good for perspective. I am currently studying to become a yoga teacher and enjoy practicing varied styles.
