Netball Match

9th March 2008

This Sunday, the boys get involved, and some of them will be wearing skirts!  Do come out and support the vets, it really helps to have people cheering on the sidelines.  Our games start at 10am on Sunday morning at Emma's courts on Wilberforce Rd.  If we get through the group stage (hopefully we should), the finals start at 3pm, again at Emma.  Click here for our previous netball results, including Ladies Cuppers last weekend.

Snare use in wild animal population control

29th February 2008

For those of you that are interested in how farmers/game keepers etc control fox/rabbit populations, you will know about the use of snares in this country.  Bill Swann delivered an interesting talk earlier on his views of snaring in the UK, and highlighted that it is hard to gather accurate data because snaring is not something that the public are really exposed
to.

He has asked me to alert you to the fact that there is an online snaring survey in the UK.  If you come across a snaring injury when you are doing EMS, you can alert the practice to the survey which the vet can fill in, and this will greatly help gain more accurate data for the work of the welfare organisations that are involved in this aspect of wildlife population control.

Click here to visit the website.  There are also some cards in my pigeon hole at the vet school if you'd like to pick one up.
