Introduction
SRCF Secure Access package for Windows
This is a self-installing .exe file for Win32 (i.e. Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2K/XP) platforms which contains:
- PuTTY, SSH client and relevant facilities for Windows, including the PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP, etc,
- WinSCP, a graphical front-end for SCP and SFTP,
- Secure iXplorer (GPL version), a graphical front-end for PSCP.
While the SRCF sysadmins try to make the components updated, you can always go to fetch their latest versions from the relevant sites. This build contains PuTTY v0.58, WinSCP v3.7.6 and Secure iXplorer GPL 0.20.
It should be noted that your previously stored sessions (in Windows registry or the .ini files) will be erased by installing/uninstalling this package. If you want to upgrade the components while keep your saved sessions, just download the file from the relevant site and overwrite the current file. For example you find WinSCP has a newer version released, you download the standlone application from the WinSCP site, rename it to winscp.exe and copy it over C:\Program Files\SSHTools\winscp.exe (assuming you chose the default installation path); This way, you keep all WinSCP sessions you saved before.
Although it is claimed on Secure iXplorer's website that this version won't work with Windows XP and may cause problems when anti-virus software is running, we have tested on Windows XP pro with MacAfee anti-virus software (The unversity have a site license for it) and no particular problem was found.
Licensing
You do not need to pay any money to use the software in this package. All the components in this package are under the GPL compatible license. Specifically PuTTY is under the MIT license, WinSCP and Secure iXplorer GPL are under the GPL license. You can get their source codes from the relevant sites.
