Constitution

This Constitution

This shall be the Constitution of the Trinity College Table Football Club (TCTFC).

The Objectives of the Club

The Trinity College Table Football Club shall give members the opportunity to play the game of "table football" in a competitive or casual environment.

  • The Club shall organise leagues, tournaments or other sorts of competitions as appropriate, so that members can play competitively.
  • The Club shall, if and when appropriate, send members and teams to compete in bigger events, so that skilful players may gain recognition for themselves and the Club.
  • The Club may give support to the creation of table football clubs, teams and squads at other colleges, to provide an external opposition to compete against.
  • The Club shall promote the game of table football within the college so that it gains wider popularity.
  • The Club shall work to ensure that a working football table remains in the college, and that the price of a game is not prohibitively high.
  • The Club shall provide a friendly and open environment in keeping with the social nature of table football.
  • The Club shall hate Ed Bolton.
  • Membership

Any member of Trinity College can join the TCTFC at his or her own request. No minimum level of skill is required. Under special circumstances, the Club President may grant membership to players from outside the college.

The Club Committee can decide to expel a member who has violated the TCTFC Constitution or rules, or otherwise dishonoured the Club. Such a decision must be unanimous within the Committee.

    The Club Committee

The TCTFC Committee shall consist of the President, the Vice-President and the Treasurer. These offices shall be elected from the members of the club, and must be held by three separate persons.

The President is ultimately responsible for the Club. He or she shall uphold the Constitution and rules of the Club, administer membership and represent the Club to the Amalgamated Clubs Committee (ACC), the Trinity College Student Union (TCSU), and any outside organisations. The President shall be responsible for holding elections and open meetings as required by the Constitution. The President shall also be responsible for documents, minutes and other information relating to the Club.

The Vice-President shall be responsible for the Club in any case when the President is unavailable or cannot be contacted. Particularly, the Vice-President shall act as President if the President has left the college, until such a time that a new Committee can be elected. Therefore, the Vice-President shall be fully informed of any action taken on behalf of the Club by the President, and receive copies of all important documents. At other times, the Vice-President shall be responsible for contact with the members, so that any complaints or problems will be heard by the Committee.

The Treasurer is responsible for the Club's finances and accounts. He or she shall present a proposed budget to an open meeting of the Club each term. The Treasurer shall present the accounts at a general meeting in Lent term. The financial year shall run from each allocation of Amalgamated Clubs funds. The Treasurer is responsible for keeping the finances and accounts of the Club in accordance with all laws and the requirements of the college.

The Committee may appoint other posts (e.g. Publicity Officer, Secretary, Team Captains) as they see fit. The Committee retains ultimate responsibility for their tasks, however.

    Elections

Committee elections shall be held annually in Lent term. At the election, the offices of President, Vice-President and Treasurer shall be chosen among the available candidates by secret ballot of the members present. The candidate with the highest number of votes wins.

The President must make every attempt to inform all members of the election in good time, and to choose a date and time where as many members as possible can be present.

Any member of the Club, and only members of the Club, can stand as candidate for any office.

    Accounts

The Treasurer is responsible for keeping and presenting the accounts as described above under "The Club Committee". The accounts shall be available for inspection at any time by members of the Club, the TCSU and college authorities.

    Amendments

This Constitution can be amended by a general meeting or an open meeting of the Club, subject to a 2/3 majority.
