Crazy Bidding
I opened a weak two, and Jonathan had a misfitting 11-count. It's pretty clear we don't have a contract with any sort of weak two opposite, so he should pass and hope opponents get into trouble. A forcing 3 bid is a bad idea. When oppo came in with 3 , I thought I needed to tell Jonathan I had a maximum with a heart guard, so bid 3NT, which was doubled. Jonathan knows this is going off, and has a second suit which he hasn't mentioned, so he should bid 4 . He didn't. When hearts were attacked, I had no chance to take more than 4 tricks.
At the other table, East opened 1 , but even then West didn't rate his hand, and was happy to sell to Toby's 3 , which made. |
