The Freshers' GuideLanguage Programme
The Cambridge University Language Programme (CULP) provides courses in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Chinese (Mandarin) at basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Courses for students cost £100 (2009-10), and run for 15 weeks through the Michaelmas and Lent terms – make sure that you sign up asap as places are limited. To view information and enrol, please visit the Language Centre Online (which requires you to log-in via Raven). There are also free courses, subsidised by a bequest by A.J. Pressland, for which all members of the university may apply, but priority is given to scientists. Languages change from year to year, but Basic and Intermediate Russian are expected to be available for 2007-8. Also see the Graduate Union language courses page
