welcome!

Welcome to the website of the Selwyn Junior Combination Room Society. The JCRS does a great many different things for its members (except, perhaps Combination, itself) who are all the current undergraduates of Selwyn College, Cambridge.
If you are a current member, you might find details of all the JCR's services, sports clubs and non-sporting societies useful. Alternatively, if you are ever in need of some help or support, try the welfare or academic affairs pages. Alternatively, have a browse through back-issues of kiwi or use the forums.
Former members are very welcome to keep in touch with the forums and there is a forum devoted to questions from prospective students (who might also like to see our information pages on applying).

FREE CHOCOLATE!!!!!
You may have recently spotted a free Kit Kat in your pigeon hole!
All I ask is that you fill in the yellow survey - it's about career choices,
and is about 90% tickboxes = 2 minutes to fill in.
There are pens on the side in the plodge, and if you could put

STAGECOACH CITI BUSES
Stagecoach's Commercial Trial For 50p Fares On Citi Buses Will End
On 30th June 2007
Stagecoach have advised the University that the scheme is not
financially viable, or close to becoming financially viable.
Consequently 50p fares on Citi buses will not be available beyond
the end of June 2007.
We are pleased to announce however that Stagecoach will continue to
provide 50p fares to University Card Holders on the Citi 4 Service,
for journeys between the City Centre and the West Cambridge Site,
until further notice. The Citi4 combines with the Uni4 bus to
provide a 10-minute service frequency between Trumpington Street and
the West Cambridge Site.
50p fares will also continue on the Uni4 bus service, which operates
between Addenbrooke's and Madingley Road Park and Ride, and which
was not subject to the trial fare scheme.

From the Monday 2nd to Wednesday 4th July, Selwyn will be welcoming a group of about 70 6th formers from Leeds for the Access Residential. The 6th formers will be staying in Selwyn for a couple of days, where they will take part in a number of scheduled activities and talks, as well as getting a feel for the atmosphere of living in a Cambridge College.
The Admissions Office need about 10 volunteers to help out with the scheduled activities, lead tours of Cambridge and basically be available to answer questions by the 6th formers.
I'm urgently trying to set up a Selwyn Art Society before I have to leave this summer!
The Selwyn Art Exhibition has been great fun and has been really popular for the two years it's been running and I really want it to keep running in future, hopefully with ever increasing numbers of artists and viewers! It would also be great to get involved with the other college art societies - Pembroke and Kings are both very enthusiastic about some joint projects.
The exhibition is not much work, and will be much less if spread over a few people. If you'd like to be involved in Selwyn Art Society or might want to help run the exhibition next year, please email me asap (fvs20@cam.ac.uk) and I'll try to organise a very brief meeting, or at least set up a facebook society if there is any response, and answer any questions.
Selwyn College Hermes Club distributes Sports grants each year to ALL
members of Selwyn who feel they have incurred costs as a result of
representing University or College sports teams.
