The Russian Graduate Seminar Group, set up
by Muireann Maguire and Nadine Meisner in May 2007, is an informal
gathering organised by graduate students of the Slavonic Departmentand
open to all. We try to meet several times a term to discuss topics
connected with Russian Studies. The format for each seminar is usually
that a graduate student will present a paper based on current research
or a chosen topic (20-30 mins), followed by discussion and drinks
with zakuski. These seminars are a unique opportunity for first-time
speakers to practise, with an audience that is guaranteed to be
enthusiastic. Proposals for future seminars are always welcome,
particularly from new members. We also welcome graduate students
from other U.K. universities.
The scope of these seminars has been very wide in the past, covering
Russian literature, history, politics, philosophy, music, ballet,
and cinema! Please see our Archive for further details
Venue: The seminars are held on alternate Thursdays of the Full
Term in the MML Graduate Suite, on the top floor of the Raised Faculty
Building (RFB), Sidgwick Site, meeting at 5:15 pm for a 5:30 start
(unless otherwise stated). Please check the current programme for
details of upcoming seminars
The programme for Michaelmas Term 2010 will be updated shortly.
