Introductions
Everyone arrives and Xanthe makes tea. Laura is welcomed to the committee and everyone
introduces themselves. Conversation includes how Jamie first drank tea at the age of
seven in Poland and how the committee likes to use three letter acronyms. Very friendly
bunch!

Weekend Away
Will almost definitely be held in Cambridge, in Queen Edith Chapel on Wulfstan Way (where
WIM was two years ago) This will be confirmed on Monday. Discussion begins about how far
away it is from the centre of town and lots of the colleges. This will be a problem for
those who can't cycle there so its decided buses and cars will have to be involved.
The host choir (us if its held in Cambridge) either arranges the cooking or passes it on to
another choir and takes responsibility for it the following year. General consensus that it
is probably easier for us to arrange it. Numbers for the weekend are yet to be confirmed.
Alex and Olly to buy food?
Friday night: We don't have to provide a meal but it's decided it would be nice to offer
something warm in the way of food. This will probably be soup, though we could do a mass
take away order. Some people will need to be available to meet and greet at the station
starting at 6.30pm - Andy offers to help.
Saturday night: A social needs to be organised, can be low key (e.g. last year they watched
the sound of music). Several suggestions are thrown in, different bars? Perhaps a meal?
(This will cover Saturday nights cooking!) Formal hall? This is a preferred option as it's
quite a Cambridge thing and other choirs might enjoy it! - Olly to enquire about Peterhouse,
numbers need to be confirmed.
Sunday morning: We provide breakfast then sing a couple of songs in the church. All ends
about 2pm.
Other things: costs should just be food and transport. Suggested cost - about £5 or £10 plus
transport. Also we need to teach a song, its decided it would be best to do something other
choirs won't have done- Salvation? Go down Moses? Beach boys? Were among the suggestions.
Maybe involve people who have recently left Rev do workshops.
-
Concert this term
ADC is pretty much not an option for this term's concert as there are no spaces. Maybe next
term we could have a main show slot? This term's concert will be a smaller scale affair.
Possible dates and venues are discussed.
Selwyn Chapel
Emma - auditorium
Christs
Queens
Trinity chapel
Holy Trinity (or any other churches)
Emma is suggested as first choice and Christs is second choice. Queens is also a good option.
It's decided that a concert venue rather than a chapel would be preferable and we will need
a big stage for the choir and band.
Jamie to look into a possible band for the concert.
Also we need to work out rough costs.
Xanthe suggests making it a charity event. We can sell CDs to cover costs as we tend to sell
lots at such events and all other proceeds go to a chosen charity (which needs to be chosen).
The preferred date is suggested as Monday the first of December.
-
Concert next term
It is suggested it would be good to do it cabaret stylee, as there is more scope for a
greater variety of acts. Suggestions are thrown in as to where it should be held.
Newnham again? Or Johns? Or Fitzpatrick at Queens. Central venues are the best as they are
easier to get to. The preferred date is in week 8 either Monday or Tuesday the
8/9th of March.
-
Other 'performances'
Saturday 6th of December is put forward as a date for carol singing for those people still
around. Xanthe suggests 2pm would be a good time as that leaves time for a rehearsal in the
morning. We can sing some Rev stuff but it must include some carols.
We have a slot in next term's CICCU mission- more details to follow when Xanthe has sorted
it out.
Alvin Stardust is not happening as a Rev event but Jamie's keen and will try and find some
others to join him.
Norwich Rev would like to meet up with us, the probable date being first Monday of next term.
Either they come here or we go there.
-
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will switch to being held at Peterhouse in week 5 - Olly to book for week six and
seven. If there are too many we may go back to Selwyn if it's free.
Olly comments that rehearsals have been 'super' although if you're late you have to do a walk
of shame through Selwyn Chapel!
Xanthe and Jamie agree that so far the choir is sounding really good!
Xanthe would love to have some suggestions for games during juice break (e.g. finding someone
whose birthday is in the same month as yours.) The most random suggestion was finding someone
with the same toothbrush colour as you!
-
Social stuff
The feedback from the curry night was that it was really good!
The men's sectional meal has a provisional date and might take form of formal at Peterhouse.
Others need to be sorted, perhaps week seven? Jocy suggests a picnic for the altos then thinks
about the time of year and reconsiders!
-
A.O.B
Xanthe thanks everyone for the Fresher's fair as 276 people signed up! And we currently
have 226 on the mailing list.
Hoodies and T-shirts need to be sorted for the concert. Xanthe to hand count as to how many
are needed in tomorrow's rehearsal. The colours for the hoodies are decided as black with
turquoise. Jocy to collaborate with Nancy over a design. There have been lots of requests
from girls for fitted T-shirts and so it's considered a good idea. Laura to make the order.
Jocy has a particularly busy schedule and feels that she should give the responsibility of
social secretary to somebody else as life is getting way too hectic. Clare is suggested and
if not the position will be opened to the rest of the choir. Jocy will still be doing
sectional meals.
There has been a request for a CD of the May week garden parties. Alex to ask Toby.
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these
virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Colossians 3:12–14
