Want them to be in the last week of term-Thursday of week 9?
Venue for Christmas and Easter:
- ARU: Good size, equipment etc, however no one knows really where it is/is as far out of the centre as West Road, quite a few shows go on there-is there going to be space at Christmas/Easter?
- Eden: Not quite sure if this would be big enough or suitable for our performances. Would this still be too far out of town?
- Queens: would probably be the best size etc, and we have already got music contacts there (Naomi), will try and see if we can book it for Christmas and Easter.
Actions:
Linda Go and view Eden, Someone to contact Queens and see if we can play there. Update (25th April):
- West Road is free on the 22nd of November 2007, the Thursday of Week 8 and is now booked.
- Queens is only able to be booked by Queens members for Queens people and even if we get round this problem we can only book it at the beginning of next term which is a little late.
- Eden to be viewed on the 28th
- Garden Party
- Newnham gardens nice (and the president is a member!), Clare as a back up
- Wednesday of May Week
- BBQ: logistics though?
Actions:
Linda Book Newnham Update (25th April):
Newnham won't allow music, and Clare is fully booked for May Week. - Webmaster
Ian to put up photos as webmaster from the last concert/socials, get activated account from Simon
Bethany needs access to the national music stores: does she have this yet?
Ian also brought up the problem of having the lyrics on the website, which we don't have permission to use and are covered by copyright. The site could be limited to Cambridge University domain members and then the lyrics sent out to the choir to include anyone who is not in the domain as a compromise.
Actions:
Ian Bug Simon to get access to the website Ian Find some photos to add, and work out how the website works... Ian Look into ways of limiting access to lyrics while still allowing permitted people access Bethany Check if she can access national music and if not get Emma to get onto it at forum. - Recording/Performing licences
To perform music that is still in copyright then it is due to the place that we're performing in to pay royalties to the artist and ask us for a contribution — should we give them one if they don't ask for it?
We can sell the music to the public if either of the following apply:
- The copyright has expired
- We perform it exactly as intended inc. things like solos and choir pieces AND we have the permission from the artist/composer
We can get around this problem by selling to a group of people, not the general public unless we have a full copyright licence. How do we want to define this group? Cambridge University? Rev members? Friends of Rev?
To advertise our choir do we want a recording that we can send out? This would involve a recording session of some music which is either original, designed for a choir, out of copyright etc.
Actions:
We need to define the group we are selling CDs to and to decide whether we are going to make a contribution to the venues if they don't ask for them? Do we want to make a recording to send out to the public? - CDs of past concerts
As we were without a full copyright license we cannot sell recordings of the past two concerts to the general public but we can to a group. Therefore Ian will get Richard Carr (the recording man!) to make 100 copies of both the Xmas 05 and the Lent 06 concerts and possibly 100 from Xmas 06 (if recording is of a good enough quality) at approx £1.70 a CD.
Ian suggests investigating getting a AP2A license for the Easter 07 concert which would work out at 6.5% the cost of each CD. The fine print needs checking.
Actions:
Ian Get CD quotes and stuff from Richard and to check the license business. - National update
WiM was AMAZING — we all should have gone.
There is the position of National Co-ordinator opening very soon, only open to graduates, only part time position but without it we would possibly be in trouble as a choir. We should encourage people to stand for it!
The Revelation Resolution is a written guidelines which needs to be approved by the choirs to be agreed on by next national meeting. It's to be sent to the committee and then to whole list for approval.
Actions:
Emma Email Revelation Resolution out to the committee and Linda to forward this out to the whole list. Emma/Linda to mention the national position in tonights meeting. - 18th May venue issues
Clare Chapel could be used with Jesus Green as a back up.
Actions:
Emma Look into booking Clare chapel Update (25th April):
Clare Chapel is unavailable.Update (28th April):
Looks like Emma Chapel is available. - Joint concert
Overall decision no.
Actions:
Linda Email back to decline - AOB
We need to keep the social side of rev up even in exam term! Trinity bar after rehersals!
We need to fill in arrangement forms so that our music can be used nationally and its in a suitable format to be sent to national.
Actions:
Naomi Announce the pub tonight! Emma to sort out arrangement forms with composers.
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Colossians 3:12–14
