Contestants Wanted for TV Show
We have been contacted by a production company who are looking for someone who wants to surprise
a loved one or friend and say sorry, thank you, propose, confess undying love for someone, announce they have
booked a holiday of a life time etc. They would take them away for a few weeks, train them to dance and sing
and then get them to bring their loved one to a public place and surprise them with a musical performance in a
restaurant or street or tube station! When they start singing all the people around (who will be performers) will
immediately burst in to song and dance and help the person pass on their message!
The show is called 'It's Now or Never' and is being made for ITV Saturday night primetime and hosted by Phillip Schofield. If you are interested in being involved with such a show, you can download
an application form here, or visit September Films
for more information.
Last Bath House Quiz of Term on 7th June
Due to the impending football monstrosity that is the World Cup, this week's Bath House pub quiz
is the last one this term. So if you haven't been yet and want to, then come along this Wednesday at 20.30. The quiz consists of 6 rounds of 10 questions
plus a picture round. Entry is 50p per person, with a minimum of £2 a team. Come along and try your luck - all the entry money goes towards
the prize for the winners.
Don't worry... pub quizzing will be back bigger, stronger and even better next year and we are even arranging some quizzes for those who are in Cambridge over the Summer (see above).
Masoquizm
There will be a quiz tournament in St. Johns College Oxford on Saturday 20th May. The tournament will
be exactly like University Challenge (4 people on a team) and each team is guaranteed at least 14 matches! It will
cost about £10 per head and starts at 10:30 in the morning (finishing some time in the evening). For further information
or to register your team, please contact the committee.
Bath House Quiz Returns!
The Bath House Quiz will be returning this Wednesday,
26th April. Come along with a team for a fun packed quiz of 6 rounds of 10 questions plus a picture round and the top 10.
The quiz starts at 20.30, and the entry is 50p per person with a minimum of £2 a team. All the entry money goes towards the jackpot
for the winning team who also receive a bottle of the quiz society's famous wine!
There is a possibility that this will be the last term of Bath House quizzes. Rest assured that the QuizSoc pub
quizzes will be continuing next year, but we may be changing venue. Watch this space for more information...

Easter Break
QuizSoc is taking a break over the Easter vacation. However, rest assured that we will be back with a
packed programme of events for the Easter term, with Quizzes restarting at the Bath House on Wednesday 19th April, 2006.
In the mean time, if you are interested in hiring the Quiz Society for your event, please get
in contact with us!
Varsity 2006
The Oxford-Cambridge Varsity Quiz took place on Saturday 11th March, 2006. Cambridge fielded a highly
competitive Varsity team comprising David Tite, Daniel Nazarian (captain), Jacob Hupart and Michael Dnes. Despite leading
for most of their match, they were sadly beaten by 15 points on the last starter question. However, they put in a brilliant
performance; by far the best showing by Cambridge in a Varsity Quiz! The reserve team of Mike Armstrong, Jon Griffith,
Christopher Handscomb (captain) and Nathan Kettle also played. Again, they were neck and neck with Oxford for the whole match, losing
by 35 points on the last couple of questions. There was some consolation for Cambridge, with the QuizSoc Committee
beating their Oxford counterparts by 130 points in a 'battle of the committees'. Sadly this wasn't enough to bring the trophy to Cambridge,
but we will be back next year, attempting to capture the cup for the light-blues!

as Easter themed round prizes. Entry for the quiz will be £1 per person with a minimum of £4 per team; maximum team size of 8. Come along and,
who knows, you may even get to meet the Easter Bunny! |

Lent Term News
Welcome back to all our members returning from the Christmas vacation. Lent is our busiest term
here at QuizSoc: continuing quizzes at the Bath House; our flagship event - the
Inter-Collegiate Quiz Challenge (ICC); and last,
but by no means least, the Varsity quiz against Oxford.
Pub quizzes at the Bath House resume on Wednesday 18th January with the regular
News and Pot Luck rounds, as well as the intriguingly titled 'From Little Book to Big Screen'.
We are still accepting entries for the
ICC: a University Challenge style quiz with teams of 4. Please email us if you are interested in entering a team.
Christmas Vacation
Following a highly successful Christmas Quiz, there will be
no more Bath House quizzes in 2005. However, rest assured that these ever popular
events will be making a return in the New Year: same time, same place! The first quiz will
be on Wednesday, 18th January.
Inter-Collegiate Quiz Championships 2006
The ICC is a University Challenge style quiz with college teams of 4 battling
it out against other college teams so that they can take home the trophy! Last year
Darwin beat Trinity in the final - can your college stop them making it a historic double?!
The championship will take place next term over a series of evenings, (dates tbc),
and we are currently looking for volunteers to be college reps to organise teams.
More details will be given out next term. If you are interested or simply want to find out more,
please e-mail us with your name and college.
