Disability and Human Rights Awareness in Serbia - £400
This charity focuses on educating Serbian school children about disability in order to reduce the strong sigma with which disability is currently associated. QCOEF funded the purchase of technical equipment to help them widen their reach and effectiveness.
Action for Children - £960
QCOEF sponsored 6 children in Kenya for a year so they were able to continue their education until they were eligible for government grants to continue their education
African Prisons Project - £850
Funding the building and stocking of libraries in African prisons so as to allow inmates the resources to prepare their defence, work towards educational qualifications and generally improve their quality of life.
The African Prisons Project notes the young age and valnerability of many of the inmates in the prisons of, for example Uganda and strives to ensure that every sentence is not a death sentence - that inmates will have life after prison.

Kenya Education Partnerships - £750
This is a scheme which sends students from Oxford and Cambridge to Kenya for two years in order to provide sustainable help to secondary schools. The funding from QCOEF is going towards money which the volunteers will spend on a worthy project that they have identified during their time there. The funding for travel and living is raised by the volunteers themselves. See the website for more details
GEECD, Lalitpur, Nepal - £500
The GEECD (Group for Environmental Education and Community Development) works to improve the lives of children from low-caste backgrounds. 10 girls from the Lalitpur district of Nepal received bursaries, worth £50 each, to cover all fees and materials necessary for them to complete their primary education. GEECD's close attention to the progress of the girls aims to break them out of the cycle of deprivation which often traps the lower-caste communities.
CAMFED
CAMFED, an international organisation dedicated to eradicating poverty in Africa through the education and empowerment of women, runs an HIV/AIDS education programme in Zimbabwe. We funded the purchase of bicycles to enable healthcare workers to travel between villages to inform women about HIV/AIDS.
Cecily's Fund, Zambia - £956
To support the primary education of 120 AIDS orphans who would not otherwise have been able to go to school. The money covered school fees, uniforms, stationery and any other necessary materials. Alongside the orphans' school education, health education programs are run to equip them with a better understanding of how to stem the spread of AIDS.
Bole Vocational Training Centre, Ghana - £895
The vocational centre works to enable economic independence and boostthe local economy to provide a viable future for local women and families. We provided this money for 5 weaving looms, 5 typewriters, 3 desks and 2 computers to equip the centre.
