of the G7 countries at their annual meeting in London.

21st February SPEAK launched the
world’s biggest ever dress! as a visual
petition for Trade Justice in Westminster. It will be coming to Cambridge next year.

Westminster: all-night vigil/party and
dawn procession to Downing Street. Many events took place during the night including films, music, speakers, creative activities and fairtrade cafes.
There was a simultaneous overnight vigil in St. Andrew's Chapel at Great St. Mary's in Cambridge.

CAMBRIDGE Election Meeting, Keynes Hall, King’s College, Tuesday 26th April, 8:30pm.
The parliamentary candidates answered questions on trade, debt, aid, and refugees.
Helene Davies (UKIP), Suzon Forscey-Moore (Independent), David Howarth (LibDem), Martin Lucas-Smith (Green), Ian Lyon (Conservative), Tom Woodcock (RESPECT), and Graham Wilkinson (Independent) all attended.

Live bands and a magician entertained the public on a big stage whilst they browsed stalls run by Oxfam, Christian Aid, Tearfund, and the World Development Movement amongst others.

- World Debt Day, 16th May.
- International societies’ garden party, 18th June, 3 - 6pm, in the Scholars’ Garden, St. John’s College.
Cambridge University’s Travel Society, Fair Trade Society, Stop AIDS Campaign, Amnesty International, Architecture Sans Frontières, Roots & Shoots, Commonwealth Society, and International Development Society joined together for one of the best garden parties in Cambridge this May Week, in support of MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY.

- Friday 24th June: CycleG8. 22 anti-poverty campaigners cycling from London to Edinburgh stopped in Cambridge and gave a presentation at
Emmanuel United Reformed Church, Trumpington Street. The evening included films, music, guest speakers and personal messages from Kenya and Tanzania.

July: International WHITE BAND day One.
Main Cambridge event: The Great St. Mary’s Wrap. Hundreds of people gathered in central Cambridge to surround Great St. Mary’s in a huge human white band. Thanks to everyone who took part.

- MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY
Rally, Edinburgh: 250,000 people gathered and marched around Edinburgh to send a message to the G8 leaders.
- LIVE 8:
Simultaneous concerts in Hyde Park, the Eden Project, Philadelphia, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Tokyo, Toronto, Moscow and Johannesburg to support and publicize MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY.
U2, Pink Floyd, REM, Coldplay, Madonna, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Sting, Robbie Williams, Scissor Sisters, Stereophonics, Dido, Annie Lennox, Joss Stone, Keane, and Muse amongst others performed to an audience of 200,000 in Hyde Park and billions around the world, with dozens of artists at the other venues.
- 6th - 8th July: G8 Heads of Government Summit, Gleneagles, Scotland.
- Saturday 10th
September: International White Band Day Two.
- 14th - 16th September:
United Nations Millennium Review Summit - including crucial discussion on the Millennium Development Goals set in 2000 to be
achieved by 2015.
The MDGs were reaffirmed, but, with the focus on internal squabbles over UN reform, no real action to achieve the Goals was committed to.

World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings, Washington: G8 Debt Deal confirmed, just.
- Saturday 29th October, 11am - 3pm: Stop Playing with Poverty! – Trade Justice event, Christ’s Pieces,
central Cambridge.

Mass Lobby of Parliament
calling for Trade Justice. David Howarth MP met a large group of campaigners from Cambridge in a committee room in the Houses of Parliament. Andrew Landsley MP (South Cambs) and Jim Paice (South-East Cambs) were also lobbied by local residents.
