In 2005 there is a unique set of opportunities to radically change the face of world poverty. There may never again be such a chance for a British Government, with the help of the British public, to transform the world for good. These opportunities include:
The UK hosting the G8 meeting in Gleneagles (6th-8th July)
The UK presidency of the EU (July – December)
The UK leading an International Commission for Africa (which published its report on 11th March)
The 20th anniversary of Live Aid
The first review of the Millennium Development Goals by the UN (14th - 16th September)
But most of all, we’re doing this because no-one has ever before organized a campaign on this scale, and there is no reason why we should wait any longer.
