Hi All,
You may be interested in a call for abstracts for an upcoming
conference hosted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa.
The conference brings together researchers working on issues of
identity, privacy, anonymity, technology, surveillance and the impact
of information and authentication technologies on our identity, and
on our ability to be anonymous.
Best wishes,
Ariane

The Revealed "I": A conference on privacy and identity
University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law
October 25-27, 2007
http://revealedi.org
Identity, it has been said, is a theft of the self. Who we are in the
world and how we are identified is, at best, a concession. Aspects of
our identities are chosen, others compelled. Ultimately, we are
defined by things that are revealed and things that are concealed.
Hosted by researchers from On the Identity Trail, the Revealed “I”
conference brings together a stellar collection of North American and
European research talent from academic, public, private, and not-for-
profit sectors. Our two day discussion focuses on the impact of
information and authentication technologies on our identity, and on
our ability to be anonymous. Offering the perspectives of youth,
marginalized persons, artists, advocates, academics, entrepreneurs,
and governments, the conference will investigate privacy and
performativity, the psychological and social construction of
identity, and challenges posed by emerging surveillance technologies.
The Revealed "I" programme is available on the conference website at
http://revealedi.org, and is also included by attachment.
The Revealed “I” conference will be preceded by a day long student
conference, where students from around the world, selected through a
peer-review process, will present their own research relating to
identity, privacy, anonymity, technology, surveillance, and other
related topics engaged by the On the Identity Trail project.
Attached is the call for student abstracts for this event; we would
appreciate if you could forward the call for abstracts to any
interested students.
