1. Canada Club Squash - Tuesday October 10 from 9:00 at Darwin
College Bar.
Hey it is Thanksgiving already! We welcome new and prospective
members to come and celebrate with pumpkin pie, nibbles, free beer
(with a paid membership - only £5) and some Canadian tunes. Catch up
with friends or chat with old members about spicing up the UK winter
and working out the mysteries of Cambridge life. Also, this year the
Club has been generously sponsored by McKinsey and a representative
will be on hand to talk about the company and to answer any questions
about careers with them. No suits even if you are keen!
Check out the Canada Club website for squash details, a map to
Darwin, and other upcoming events: www.srcf.ucam.org/cdnclub/
2. Cambridge University Men's and Women's Ice Hockey Clubs
We're having our first training session of the season this Sunday.
Meet at Queens Road coach stops near Darwin College and Grange Road
(also on the map), at 1830. The second stop is at Fitz college, at
1840. If you have kit bring skates, sticks and lower half, if you
don't, don't worry about it. We will return to those stops before
midnight. The cost of the session is £10, payable on the night. Any
cheques payable to "Cambridge University Ice Hockey Club", please.
Both men and women are welcome, beginners and seasoned pros alike.
Any problems getting there, please don't hesitate to call or email me.

Dear members
Autumn is upon us - and in place of a traditional Canadian
Thanksgiving meal, we're inviting you to a casual meet and greet
session at the Maple Leaf Pub on Oct 18 at 7pm. You will have a
chance to meet other Canadians in the London area and we'll have a
very brief general meeting to discuss upcoming events. We are always
looking for volunteers and new members - so bring along your ideas
and any friends that may be interested in meeting fellow Canadians
and/or discussing Canadian issues.
Here are some details:
Date and time: Oct 18, 7pm
Location: Maple Leaf Pub, 41 Maiden Lane, Covent Garden
Nearest tube stop: Covent Garden or Charing Cross)
Please RSVP by replying to this email as this will help us plan
seating arrangments at the Maple Leaf.
2) The Terry Fox Run is taking place on Oct 1 in Hyde Park. Here are
the details:
While High Commissioner James Wright will be opening the
the Terry Fox Run this Sunday in Hyde Park, it is being organized by
the Four Seasons Hotel. The main race starts at 10 a.m. close to the
band stand, and it would be great to see as many people as possible
there to support this worthy cause to raise money for cancer research.
Runners in the 10K race are required to register beforehand, so I
would urge your members to contact the Four Seasons Hotel to request a
registration form at 020 7907 5313 or e-mail
terryfoxrun.lon at fourseasons.com.
