NOTICE TO ALL HIGH COMMISSION STAFF, CANADA BASED SPOUSES AND
DEPENDANTS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES

The Political Affairs and Public Diplomacy Division have a requirement
on an emergency basis for two people to assist with temporary support
services for the Canada Day 2006 Project on Trafalgar Square. These
are full time appointments and will be for approximately 5-6 weeks,
available immediately.

Salary: £24,098.00 p.a. (L5/1)

JOB SUMMARY

Tasks below would be divided between the two organisers on the basis
of need and timing.

Canada Day Event Planner/Organiser

Tasks include:

•conceptualizing and planning concrete volunteer needs and individual roles,

•identifying volunteers (from the Canadian community, student
population, High Commission),

•contacting, recruiting and organising volunteers, and ensuring
appropriate training is put in place. (An estimated 60-80 volunteers
are needed for Canada Day itself and gradually increasing numbers
leading up to it)

•fleshing out the events program, and contributing to the execution of
those already conceived,


•conceptualizing, developing, organising, managing and implementing
Canada Day activities in Trafalgar Square and managing volunteeers
associated with specific activities,

•organising a "Volunteer Thank You Event" at Canada House after Canada Day,

The Planner/Organisers would be needed immediately until one week
after Canada Day

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:"A" level education or equivalent

COMPUTER SKILLS:Basic computer skills, Internet research and e-mailing

LANGUAGE: English essential

EXPERIENCE: Broad experience in events management and organisation

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Ability to work in the UK.

RATED REQUIREMENTS

ABILITIES:

The kind of person we need has to be a self-starter with proven
organisational skills (events management), strong people and
communications skills, ability to work in a highly dynamic
environment, in a team and to learn fast.

PERSONAL SUITABILITY
Flexible, adaptable, well-organised, good judgement, able to work
under pressure. Able to start on a full time basis as quickly as
possible.
