Dear Cambridge Canadians,
A quick reminder our informal May two-four pub night is tomorrow at 8pm.
We've decided it'd be more fun to have it at the Annual Cambridge Beer
Festival taking place at Jesus Green. We'll meet by the entrace at 8; if
you arrive later and can't find a large group talking aboot hockey you
can reach me at 07775 560 275.
Also our Annual BBQ, which also functions as our club AGM, will take
place again on June 11th on Darwin Island from 3-6pm. Pencil it in!
Lastly, and most importantly...
Cambridge Canadian Club Elections
As in this past year, executive positions will be filled in June and a
second set of newly arriving Canadians will be recruited onto the
Committee at the beginning of Michaelmas Term. This term, the following
positions need to be filled:
President
Secretary
Treasurer
Academic Liaison
Social Secretaries (unlimited number!)
We've had a really great year so far, and we'd like to see things
continue. To do so, we need your help. The official procedures to get
involved follow. Really we're a fairly relaxed club, and the nomination
and election procedures below are necessary for clarity and some level
of transparency. Please don't let them stand in the way of you
participating!
If anyone is interested in a position, but is unsure or would like more
information, please feel free to contact the President, Hank Liao, at
hl251 at cam.ac.uk or call him on 07775 560 275.
CCC Nominations and Elections Procedure
1. Nominations procedure:
a. Two members of the club are required to nominate a candidate.
b. Committee members are not eligible to make nominations.
c. Nominees do not need to have served on the Committee.
d. Closing date for nominations is June 4, 2005 at 5 pm.
e. Nominations are to be sent to the Secretary, either in writing or via
email from a university account:
Charles Noir
Sidney Sussex College
cdnclub-secretary at srcf.ucam.org
f. If there is only one candidate for a position, that person is
automatically acclaimed.
g. If there is more than one candidate nominated for a position, the
elections procedure will take effect.
2. Elections Procedure
a. In cases where there are more than one nominee for a position, the
nominees will be notified on the evening of June 4.
b. The nominees will be asked to send a manifesto of no more than 150

both past experience and future goals for the club.
c. The manifestos will be circulated to the membership by email.
d. Voting will take place from midnight June 8 to 3 pm, June 11. Votes
may be sent by email to the Secretary during this time period. Only the
Secretary will have access to the voting process, in order to maintain
the confidentiality of the ballot. A ballot box will also be available
from 3-6pm during the Annual BBQ for those who would rather not vote via
email.
e. An announcement of the successfully elected members will be sent out
by email once tallying is complete.
Get involved!
