Organ Scholars
From Peterhouse Chapel Choir
Andrei Lebed (Senior Organ Scholar)
Andrei showed an interest in music and the piano at the age of six, and began his Grade 8 Piano with the ABRSM at fourteen. At fifteen, he started actively participating in choirs, and as a result took up learning the organ. A year later, he had done his Grade 7 Organ with the ABRSM again (with distinction), achieved distinction in Grade 8 Singing, and also won a music scholarship to continue his studies at University College School, London. In his first year of Organ playing, Andrei was granted the position of Organ Scholar at Emmanuel Church, West End Lane. A year later, he moved to post of Organ Scholar at St Mary's with All Souls, Kilburn. Andrei takes a keen interest in choral conducting, conducting the choir every week as well as taking regular lessons from Nicholas Shaw. Academically, he is particularly interested in early choral music, as well as the repertoire of the Russian Orthodox church and its liturgical subtexts. He is currently looking into a scientific project based around the potentially misguided perception of tuning within male voice choirs as opposed to female voice choirs.
Andrei took up the Organ Scholarship at Peterhouse in October 2010, where he reads Music. He also occasionally finds time to play the French horn.

Caspian Mitchard (Junior Organ Scholar)
Caspian’s interest in music began while he was a boy chorister, and subsequently Head Chorister, in New College Choir, Oxford. He sang on many New College Choir CDs and toured with them in the USA, Japan (twice) and extensively in Europe. He has 5 ABRSM Grade 8 Distinctions (Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Singing) and Diplomas in Piano and Singing. Early in 2010 he was the soloist in Poulenc's Organ Concerto at a concert in the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, and played the organ for the world premiere of Simon Whalley's Cantata Cycle 'Christus - A Passion according to St Mark' at the Queen's College, Oxford. For the past year Caspian has been Organ Scholar at St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne, and Music Assistant at Trinity Grammar School, Kew.
Caspian takes up the Organ Scholarship at Peterhouse in October 2011 and is studying Philosophy.
