Rooms
Information for prospective First Years
This page provides information on the rooms ballot and rooms for undergraduates in general both in and around college. A general description of how the rooms ballot works is given here, and more detail on how points are allocated here.
The next set of room ballots will take place in Lent 2007.
Please note that all student rooms have internet connections, and contain (more or less) a standard 'package' of furniture. The room rents will have (by Lent 2007) been aligned to a uniform scale which is based on room size, so larger rooms can be expected to be more expensive. The exceptions are basement rooms, which attract a 10% discount; en-suite rooms, which attract a 30% premium; and rooms at Parkside/Warkworth, which tend to be cheaper. Please note that this is nothing new - the migration onto the single scale has been taking place gradually over the past three years, and the premia/discounts have also been in existence for the past three years.
The maintenance team is currently re-measuring every room to determine accurate room sizes, and this process will take a while to complete. A list of updated floor areas will be published on this website when all the measurements have been taken and are verified to be accurate.
Undergraduates are encouraged to submit room reviews to be added to the database; please email them to the JCR Secretary. Any comments/suggestions on the database can also be emailed to the JCR Secretary.
