Law
How to survive being a Peterhouse lawyer
- Arrange trips for lunch at Nadia's patisserie as an inducement to
go to the law faculty for lectures.
Hint 1: marshmallow covered chocolate brownies are unbeatable.
- Law
books can sometimes be a bit pricey.
Hint 2: make friends with your 'college parents' if they do law and offer to buy their books from them- you can then get them for about half the original price.
- 'Nutshells' guides to give you a basic knowledge of what you are
supposed to know when there is far to much reading to contemplate.
Hint 3: the headings on cases summarise the case so you don't have to read the whole thing.
- The Law society often arranges cocktail parties and dinners which
are definitely worth going to.
Hint 4: don't get too enthusiastic about subsidised alcohol and embarrass yourself.
- Law firms inundate you with presentations to go to so they can tell
you how great their firm is and induce you to join it.
Hint 5: to work out which presentations to go to, choose all the firms which are offering food as well as wine / hold it in a posh location you haven't been to before
As an old and wise third year, I thought I'd help set out the Pros and Cons of studying law at Peterhouse to help you make a balanced and informed decision about what it is really like here!
