Music & Theatre

The Music Room
As the name implies, this is essentially a room where music practices take place. It's got a pretty good grand piano which can be used on request, and the room itself has got chairs and can also be booked for society meetings and the like which aren’t music related as well. Bops usually extend from the bar into here, college bands often use it to practise in, and it can be freely booked by any college member.
The college also has an active music society, which organises a chamber orchestra and puts on concerts, music in the bar and even bands at the garden party in the summer.

The Theatre
The Peterhouse theatre is a 180-seat auditorium, used by students to show films and put on plays. These are organised by the college film and drama club - The Heywood Society.
This year there have been free films shown every fortnight, and one or two big productions each term. The society is a Peterhouse club, so gives priority to people at Peterhouse for acting, directing and technical roles, but as we're such a small college people from other colleges often get involved. The theatre really is a wonderful facility, and is (as far as we know) the only college theatre with a balcony. The sound system has just been upgraded with a new mixer desk and a couple of radio microphones; the college also hires out the theatre for conferences and guest lectures so the equipment really is top notch. There's also a versatile if small complement of theatrical lights, with a huge variety of lantern bars to hang them from.
