Fresher's Guide
This is the 2005 Fresher's guide, prepared by the JCR first year officer Dave Kerr and sent out to new first years before they arrive in October. Some of the information (like 'what to bring', for example) will be a bit premature for the time being, but the guide is packed with useful insights into life at Peterhouse. Read on!
Introduction
Hi! I知 Dave, the First Year Officer for Peterhouse. My job is to represent you, the first year undergraduates, to the college. Also, I知 organising Freshers week, and basically making sure that when you come up there値l be someone around to help out with anything you need.
Another part of my job is to write the fresher's guide. So here it is. This is the brand new alternative prospectus for Peterhouse. This will tell you what you really need to know about life here. One of the most useful things is the back cover; that値l tell you exactly what you need to do when you first arrive here.
I知 not going to tell you stuff about the University. I知 not going to give an enormous history of the college. This prospectus is much more of a practical guide to living here, it値l let you know the important things; where you値l be living, what your rooms look like, where you go to do washing, the best local pubs, the best place to get food; the important stuff.
Anyway, enjoy flicking though the prospectus; there are lots of photos of the college, the accommodation, and the best of the surroundings. I値l be around before you all arrive, to organise Freshers week, and I値l be wandering around as you arrive, helping out, unpacking and (trying to) sort out any problems you might have.
