Porters and the Porters’ Lodge
If you need any practical help, the Porters are almost always your best bet. They have many different functions in college – they‘re the security arm of the college, there 24 hours a day; they sort out post, and the porters’ lodge has an individual pigeon hole for each undergraduate so you can get it very easily; they’re in charge of all the keys in college; they’ll give you light bulbs if the one in your room blows; they’ll break open your bike lock if you’ve managed to lose not only all your keys but also all your spare keys. They also seem to know pretty much everything about the Cambridge and the university, and are always willing to answer any questions or queries as to where places are and what you should do in certain situations. In addition to pigeon holes, the porters’ lodge also has a fax machine, telephone and post boxes (for both internal university mail – which is free – and external mail).
Laundry
College has two laundries on site with both washers and driers. They are coin-operated but reasonably priced and can take pretty big loads. There's also an iron and ironing board in the laundry, but it doesn't seem to get much use! College also runs a laundry service itself, though this is quite expensive and only happens once a week.

Nurse
College has a nurse who can treat minor problems and offer friendly advice.
