Full Minutes

At midday, there were exactly four people in the bar: Pete, Sean, Ben and Mark. Fifteen minutes later, there were still exactly four people in the bar. It turned out that quite a number of the committee members had thought that the meeting was going to be at 4 pm (or had thought that the meeting was at midday and were eventually convinced by others – wrongly – that it was at 4 pm).

JCR Amenities

Sean went up to Dave Kerr’s room to ask him to come down to the bar and discuss Amenities stuff. Dave did so.

Dave says he can get a clock for £2.99 from Argos; Mark asks him to get one for the bar as well.

The pool table might cost £90 to resurface (this is a necessary expense and this price is economical), and new pool cue tips would cost around £30.

Dave also mentioned that he can get a discount for the JCR newspapers, saving around £4 a week – and he will email the Bursar about this (thus helping College save money on Fellows’ newspapers). Ben asked Dave to get an estimate for the cost of getting papers from the post office.

Dave was also asked to get cables and headphones for the JCR so that an iPod can be plugged in (this only costs £3 from Maplin, according to Pete). Pete also mentioned that something was wrong with the DVD player, so Dave will get a DVD cleaner as well. Also, Dave will get batteries for the TV remote controls.

Pete suggests that, instead of scrapping the jukebox, we buy it from the rental company and make it free (if we have enough money left after Freshers’ Week).

As the vending company for the soup machine seems to be replacing its water filter regularly, despite the fact that the machine is defunct, Pete will ask them to stop doing this.

Katy arrived, and left.

(Postscript: At the ‘Meet the JCR’ session later that day, Ben discussed the Access Bus situation with David Hopper. David said he hadn’t done anything about it yet, but he will email Jennie Brandon (the Admissions Co-ordinator) and sort it out.)

The date of the next meeting will be arranged by email.
