International Representative - Jan Bock

Hello to all international students! My name is Jan and I am your representative at Peterhouse. That means that I care for and guarantee the well-being of all students from outside Britain (the status of students from Northern- Ireland is a bit of a special case...).

I am German, born in Goslar (near Hanover) and spent the first twenty years of my life in the same little village on the northern edge of the Harz mountains. Then I decided to go to England, and applied to Cambridge - successfully in the end - and can genuinely say that I am having the best time of my life at Peterhouse. I will make sure that you can have the same kind of experience and enjoy your time here as much as possible.

If you have any questions about student life, activities, setting up your bank account or applying for visa - ask me and I will help you to deal with it. If you face problems with the English or European way of life, feel lost in translation, or struggle with adapting to Cambridge student life - call me, buzz me, talk to me any time. I promise to do all I can in order to give you help and support in all respects.

I will also try to organise storage for your belongings over the holidays and free of charge.

We are going to have dinners with international students from other colleges, an international bop, international films and much more.

Apart from fun and jubilation, I am also always available for problems and concerns. You can send me messages on facebook, or e-mail me at jjb71@cam.ac.uk. Furthermore, I have weekly surgery hours. Do not hesitate to come and join me for a glass of wine and chat about all kinds of issues that concern you. Every Sunday from 4 - 5 pm. You will find me in room 12, house 3, St Peter's Terrace.

Looking forward to seeing you! ;-) Jan
