In September 2007, the Pembroke Players took touring theatre at the University of Cambridge to new heights, and launched an ambitious £20,000 touring production of 'Romeo and Juliet'.

The aim: to strengthen educational and student relations between Educational institutions in the UK and Japan.

The challenge: to perform Shakespeare in a vibrant and exciting way... on the other side of the Globe!

PPJT 2007 met with great acclaim, securing financial support not only from Pembroke College, Cambridge, but also the Daiwa and Sasakawa foundations. Such was the reception, that the Pembroke Players shall return this September with a sell-out tour of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.'

The tour additionally involves a series of fully interactive workshops that are offered to Japanese students, with the aim of providing them with a deeper understanding of the English language, and the cultural and historical implications of the Shakespeare play.

The Pembroke Players have been invited to conduct an extended tour of Japan between the 11th September - 5th October 2008.
