Freshers

This is a page especially designed for those coming up to Pembroke. We hope you find it helpful. There's lots of information on this page about what the Christian Union in Pembroke is all about and when we meet but if you want to know more, do contact us.

A Little Bit About Us

Pembroke Christian Union is a part of Cambridge Inter-Collegiate Christian Union (CICCU - pronounced Kick-You!) We believe that the Christian message is the most important news that anyone could ever hear and so we want to tell people about it! CICCU puts on lots of events at a university level and we also have events in Pembroke where people can come and hear more about what Christians believe.
An important aspect of the CU is to meet together as Christians to encourage and support one another. In the CU, Christians of many different denominations unite together around the central truths of the Bible.

Cambridge is blessed with lots of great churches and we would really encourage you to get stuck into one straight away!

Christians in Pembroke go to a variety of different churches. Church breakfast is a great opportunity to meet up with other Christians, eat breakfast together, and then, if you wish, find someone to go to church with! In the first few weeks we will be visiting a variety of churches.

If you're not a breakfast person but you want to come to church or you want to know about the service times, please get in touch.

Where? Contact us to find out.
There will be an international event sometime in freshers' week. Come along!

A 'Normal' Week

Sad though it may be, Freshers' week does not last forever! In fact, "week" is somewhat misleading. However, the good news is that loads of stuff goes on during term time anyway!
The CICCU diary and the meetings page give more details on the events happening each week, but a summary follows:

Friday Lunchtime Talk

Look out for the posters on notice boards in college each week. Each week there will be a short talk, explaining the good news of Jesus Christ. It's great to come along and to bring your friends. There's also a free lunch!

College Group

Each week we meet in college to praise God, pray together, and study the Bible, normally followed by tea and cake.

Bible Teaching

During early Saturday evening we meet with all the other college groups in Cambridge for Bible teaching, prayer and praise.

Christianity Explored

During Michaelmas term we will be running a 5 week course in college looking at the basics of the Christian faith in an informal, discussion-based setting. If you're interested in Christianity or want to brush up on what it means to be a Christian, do come along.

Contact Us

If you'd like to know more about what it means to be a Christian, more about the Christian Union or you just want a chat, we would love to hear from you, please send us an email doors or leave a note in a pigeon hole. We would love to meet you; please come to any of the CU events that go on in college.
