student action on world poverty and the environment

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

BIG Activist Meeting

Tuesday, 20 January 2009

There's a BIG activist meeting happening next Tuesday 27th January, in The
Shop on Jesus Lane at 19:30.

The Cambridge Action Network and People and Planet will get together,
discuss the different roles of the two groups and how we can co-ordinate,
think about what we want to do and how to organise: it's going to be
BRILLIANT. If there's one thing you want to make it along to in the next
week, it's this!

RBS Protest; Top Shop Protest

Saturday, 29 November 2008

People and Planet Cambridge will be participating in the national weekend of action against E-on by protesting outside the RBS on Trinity Street TODAY from 15:00. Do all come along for some street theatre, placard waving and leafletting.

Then, on THURSDAY, we'll be protesting outside Top Shop as part of the national day of action against them. Meet outside King's at 15:00.

RBS is the biggest funder of fossil fuels in the UK, and we need to put pressure on them to clean up their act before it's too late!

Top Shop won't even sign up to the Ethical Trading Initiative, which goes to show how important human rights are to them: we need to show them how important human rights are to their customers!

Collective Cooking

Thursday, 13 November 2008

Is it really necessary to go Vegan to save the planet?
Does food have any relevance to the environmental movement at all?
What other ethical issues are relevant when it comes to food?

What do Vegans even eat???

If these and any other questions relating to food have been perplexing you, People and Planet have the answer: come along to an informal, unbiased discussion of all issues food-related, this FRIDAY 14th NOVEMBER, and then take part in an experiment to see what vegans do actually eat, i.e. a vegan cooking session!

£1 donation or food donation requested but not required!

Meet outside the Chetwyn Room, in King's College Bar, at 19:00, go from there to the Common Room at Spalding, next to the Cambridge Arts Theatre, and then onto a kitchen for collective cooking!

Call 07882 319 602 if you're having any trouble finding us!
