Guys and Dolls

3-6th March 2004

Miss Sarah Brown is a Salvation Army maiden set on saving the wayward souls of New York. Her campaign is run from the Save-a-Soul Mission but there are few souls saved - that is until gambler Sky Masterson comes to the scene and is taken by the pretty, young lass. He makes a bet that he can take her to Havana and succeeds, only to fall in love with her and to supply her with the souls needed to save the mission.

Sky is a visitor to New York wanting to join the crap game (a dice gambling game) but organising such games is illegal and Nathan Detroit who runs the oldest established, permanent, floating crap game in New York not only has the law against him but his night-club signing and dancing fiancee of 14 years, Adelaide, who wants him to give it up so they can marry. Nathan is onto a loser with Sky wanting a game and another hefty visitor Big Jule not only wanting a game but determined to win by foul or fair means. The night Sarah goes off to Havana with Sky, Nathan organises a crap game at the mission. Sarah thinks shes been used but when Sky finds out he keeps his side of the bargain and presents the lost souls - souls that include himself to the mission

Sky gives up his life of gambling to marry Sarah and to beat the drum for her campaign, Nathan marries Adelaide and the Guys and Dolls are set to live happily ever after.

Good musical fare :-)
