Welcome to the Lady Margaret Boat Club

The Lady Margaret Boat Club is the oldest boat club in Cambridge and the largest of all college clubs. Founded in 1825 by twelve members of St. John's College, it has an illustrious history, with numerous Henley wins and Olympians amongst its membership, and continues to compete at a high level both locally and nationally.

Around a third of the members of college row or cox in the club at some point during their time in Cambridge, with levels of commitment ranging from the first boats competing for the Bumps headships and racing regularly outside Cambridge, including at Henley Royal Regatta and Women's Henley, to the lower boats catering for people aiming simply to have a good time and keep fit. You can find more information on joining the club here.

The club has excellent facilities with a recently renovated boathouse, a large number and variety of boats, and a well equipped gym with eight Concept2 ergos and a free weights area. This equipment has been acquired thanks to donations from old members of the club, either directly or through the LMBC Association, and thanks to our sponsor Bank of America, and we are very grateful for their continuing support.
