The Steering Committee

Alumni with a keen interest in the Boat Club's affairs and fortunes on and off the river can become actively involved with the Boat Club again by joining the 'Steering Committee'. This committee, which came into existence in 1997, is composed entirely of members of the Alumni Association, meets at least once a year and aims to provide advice, expertise, and most importantly, a measure of continuity in the face of the constant flux of student oarsmen and women.

The Senior Posts on the Committee are Honorary President, Steering Committee Chairman and Senior Treasurer. Junior posts are filled by Fellows of the Steering Committee. There is no restriction on the number or length of membership of Fellows on the Committee and the only prerequisite to becoming a Fellow is a keen genuine interest in the Boat Club. Applications for Fellowships are accepted throughout the year and confirmed at the next Steering Committee meeting. Full details about the duties and powers of the Steering Committee are laid down in the Constitution.

The Steering Committee currently has 14 Fellows plus

Honorary President: Eleanor Sharpston (1975)
Chairman: Roger Thorogood
Senior Treasurer: Ian Pratt (1989)
