The winner of this year's Paul Stonehart Novice Chalice and Shield (for the years best novice) is Simon Freytag. Simon arrived at King's in October and learnt to row in Michaelmas term. Since then he has rowed in the first eight in some regattas and on the Thursday of bumps. He has also raced in the winning men's squad IV in the Cambridge Winter League, the Henley Fours Head, and Bedford Head.
The May Bumps will be held 10th - 13th June. The Mays Events on 13th & 14th June will include an alumni rendezvous point and reception during the Saturday races, pre-prandials on King's front lawn with a boat naming ceremony, the May Bumps Supper, overnight accommodation in College on Saturday, as well as a champagne breakfast and an alumni outing on Sunday. Invitations to the Mays Events are enclosed (if your copy is missing please request one from the Alumni Association Secretary). If you would like us to organise a re-union of a particular crew for the Mays Events, please let us know well in advance.
Henley Royal Regatta
KCBC are intending to enter an eight into the Temple Challenge Cup and a coxless four into the Visitors' Challenge Cup. Both crews are likely to be required to go through the qualifying races on Friday, 26th June. If they qualify they will start racing at the regatta proper starting on Thursday, 2nd July 1998.
