Welfare
Welcome to the CUIS welfare page! I'm Nitasha and I'm your welfare rep for 2011/12. At times, life in Cambridge can become difficult due to the stress that the Cambridge workload and environment can sometimes produce. Added to this pressure, you may be experiencing certain cultural differences and your transition from school to uni life may not be as smooth as you expected. Well if you feel any of the above remember that you are probably not alone!
This is where I come in! Settling into Cambridge life is not always easy and if you ever feel overwhelmed or that you cannot cope - or even if you simply need a chat (over a nice cup of masala chai) get in touch with me via email. My email address is npd25@cam.ac.uk.
Remember that you don't need to feel like you have nowhere to turn. And perhaps most importantly, remember that everything that is said to me will be held in STRICT CONFIDENTIALITY. I'm here if you need to relieve some of those stresses that can affect you at various points within the year and if you need a good listener or even some work advice drop me an email.
Welfare is a new role that India Society have introduced this year and as you may or may not be aware, your college will also have welfare officers. However, we don't want anyone to hold back on cultural or religious issues they may feel are affecting them. If there is anything you feel your college officers won't be able to understand you can be sure that CUIS welfare is here for you.
Moreover, with exam term creeping up on us, stress levels are high and spirits are low. We want to make sure you're coping alright with everything going on. If you want to talk about anything, we're here for you.
Remember that there are numerous sources of help available if you would like to help yourselves to information. I have attached a list of websites below to save you sometime. Please take some time to look at a few of these if you feel they may help you.
On a final note, I wish all the Freshers in 2011/12 the very best settling into life at Cambridge.
Welfare Love,
Nitasha
