14^th Annual EPSRC Research Methodology Workshop for Manufacturing and Technology Management

20th and 21st March 2007, Wolfson College, Cambridge

As you may know we have, since 1993, run a Research Methodology workshop for the Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology Management community. The objectives are:

To provide expert teaching in research methodology for manufacturing and technology operations management to new researchers and "alumni" of the workshop.
To provide an opportunity for researchers to present and discuss the methodological aspects of their current work in small groups led by experienced researchers.
To discuss the methodological requirements of manufacturing, technology and operations management research and to stimulate and capture new approaches.
To strengthen informal links between members of the research community.

The first day of the workshop will include sessions on key aspects of Research Methodology for new researchers and sessions on writing and publication for alumni. The dinner provides an opportunity for informal conversations between "generations"!

The second day is designed around small interactive discussion groups with delegates sharing their research experience and problems under the guidance of experienced colleagues.

This year we are asking people to apply online at http://www.srcf.ucam.org/ifmrmw. We will write again with final programme details in mid-February. There will be no charge for attendance but accommodation will cost 36 pounds per night (B&B). Limited grants are available if the charges present a major hurdle. Willingness to present your methodological issues to a discussion group is not a condition of attendance, but if demand exceeds supply it may influence selection.

	Presenting papers	There will be a paper writing workshop for a limited number of participants to present their papers for discussion. Should you wish to participate in this seminar you will be required to forward the proposed paper for discussion along with your application.
	Interviewing	There will be a more in-depth workshop on interviewing skills for a limited number of participants. This will include interactive practice sessions and analysis of techniques. If you would like to participate in this session, please indicate.

The conference is being held at Wolfson College in Cambridge and will start at around 09:15 on the 20th of March and end at around 17:00 on the 21st of March.
